Small, compact, and useful. The EcoTank ET-2720 is a minimalistic printer that prints a significant number of monochrome and colored documents while also keeping the cost-to-print ratio low.

But, the Ecotank is by no means a fast device, even regular black prints will take time to print out. It’s a small and compact machine that is ideal for students and their projects that usually do not require fast delivery.

Before looking at the performance, let us list down some advantages and disadvantages of the EcoTank ET-270

Performance

Speaking strictly on the fundamental features, the Epson ET-2720 has average scanning features, and it has a flatbed scanner so, you’ll only be scanning 1 page at a time and if you require a dual-sided scan, then you’d have to turn the page manually. Now, this activity can be cumbersome if you have to scan a lot of pages.

One more downside of the machine is that it doesn’t have a fax. You’ll be able to perform all the copy and scan functions with the scan rate being 1200 dpi.

Talking about the display, the Epson-2720 has a mediocre display, which swivels so you can see better, sadly the Epson-2720 does not have a touch screen, and we all know how irritating manual buttons can be.

The display size is around 1.5 inches, nearly 3.7 centimeters, not a big or impressive feature as you can gather.

Probably the best feature of the device is its super tank system. The Printer utilizes four high-capacity ink tanks that yield an impressive quantity of both black and color pages in one fill-up.

Apart from that, if you can’t keep check of the tank capacity, you’ll be notified through a pop-up message on your PC to check your ink levels regularly.

It is technically possible to fill your ink tank with local ink, but it is not recommended. We are not sure if this move will result in a busted printer since local ink may end up damaging the print head. If this does happen, unlike regular cartridges, these local ones can’t be removed. This attempt to save some cash may not just only bust your Printer, but it also can render your warranty, null.

The shape and design of the Epson ET-2720 are average; the ink tanks and load paper is easily accessible. The output tray jams, and if that happens, there isn’t any real access to unjam it. The small and compact design makes it difficult for the Printer to scan books or other bulkier items since the scanner lid can not extend to this degree.

Now coming on another crucial point, the cost of printing is a blessing with this device. For Black or monochrome, the price is 0.4 cents each paper and 1 cent for each colored paper. You can see that the Epson ET-2720 has an exceptional cost-per-print ration. The cost per print for Black and colored paper is exceptionally economical.

Connectivity

The Epson ET-2720 has excellent connectivity features. For wireless, you can connect to the Printer by using WiFi via a router or make use of the WiFi Direct feature.

The device is also compatible with both Apple and Android Operating Systems; thus, it supports Apple AirPrint; you can also use the Mopria print service. The Printer does not support Bluetooth connections, but it does have a USB port to connect with your PC and print files directly from there.

Apart from not having Bluetooth, the device also doesn’t support an ethernet cable for wired connection, and there is no external storage source.

Portability

We’ve already mentioned that this Printer is a little machine, small and compact with a great print to cost ratio. But how small is this wonderous little machine?

The official height of the Epson ET-2720 is around 6.9 inches, with a width of 14.3 inches and a depth of 13.6 inches.

The little guy weighs around only 12.6 pounds or 5.7 Kgs; it’s so light that kids have school bags heavier than this.

The lightweight makes the Printer super portable; you can carry it to your friend’s house or move it from dorm to dorm as you see fit. The point is, the device is super portable and can be reset multiple times according to your needs.

Bottom Line

The Epson ET-2720 is an affordable small-scale printer that is most suitable for students and home use.

The device has a tremendous print-to-cost ratio thanks to its high-capacity ink cartridges that run for an extended period. It has internet connectivity and Apple and Android compatibility; the device also supports USB for any direct scan from your PC.

The lightweight makes the Printer extremely portable and thus can be carried anywhere without much hassle. The small nuisances of the screen display and slow printing are manageable issues when a printer gives quality outputs and is affordable in the long run.

  • Takes less space
Cons
  • No ADF
  • Low duty cycle
  • Slow speed

If you’re someone with moderate and average print needs, the Epson ET-3710 might be a suitable companion for your small-scale office. The Printer has a good output quality and has some of the lowest running costs for a consumer printer.

However, the machine is not the most suitable for its price. Its price rests between the Canon Pixma G6020 and the Epson EcoTank ET-4760, which costs $120 more but justifies this price value by offering the auto-duplexing automatic document feeder (AFD).

This puts the Epson ET-3710 in a genuinely tricky position; in a nutshell, the Epson ET-3710 is a reliable Printer overshadowed by its competitors. Even in its own family, the main difference between the Epson ET-3710 and its brothers, the ET-4760 and ET-3760, is that ET-3710 lacks ADF, and so is incapable of sending multi page files to the scanner.

Performance

Epson officially rates the ET-3710 at 15 monochrome pages per minute (ppm), which is a reasonable rate for ink-models in this range.

To examine the Printer, a test was conducted to check the output rate of the device. The Printer was fed with a Microsoft document, which was outputted at a rate of 15.7 ppm, slightly higher than the officially stated speed.

To further test the Printer’s performance, the device was fed a collection of Excel spreadsheets, Adobe Acrobat documents, graphs, and charts. The total time of printing these combined with the previous test scores landed the Epson ET-3710 at 7.4 ppm, a normal range for the Epson ET models.

Finally, the Printer was also tested to see how fast it printed a collection of extremely detailed four by 6-inch photos. With borderless printing turned on, it took the machine an average of 30 seconds to churn out each snapshot. This period is average for the majority of the entry-level inkjets.

Like most Epson printers, this one too has a low cost-per-print ratio. For monochrome, the cost cost-per-print comes out to be 0.3 cents and for color, 0.9 cents. Moreover, there’s enough starting ink to cover 7,500 monochrome pages and around 6,000 pages of color.

Connectivity

There are several good connectivity options with this device. Firstly, the Epson ET-3710 has WiFi capabilities for a wireless connection, a 100 Mbps Ethernet cable for connecting to a single PC via USB 2.0. The device also has WiFi Direct, a peer to peer protocol for connecting the Printer to your smart devices without either of them being part of the network.

The Printer is also compatible with the mobile Android and Apple Operating Systems (OS) and so supports the Google Cloud Print and Apple AirPrint. Along with this, there is Fire OS support and Mopria Print service.

There are also several apps and services like the Epson Scan to cloud, Epson Remote Print, Epson Email Print, which is available for Android and IOS. With the iPrint, Epson claims that it allows users to scan, print, and share documents, photos, emails, and other files directly from your tablet or mobile phone.

Having said that, the Epson ET-3710 can neither print nor scan to a USB drive. But, the Epson ET-3710 inkjet supports voice managed, much like its siblings. It also performs printing through Google home and Alexa smart home AI technologies.

However, the ET-3710 isn’t restricted to just these two; other voice technologies can be used that practice IFTTT scripting like the Windows Cortana and Apple’s Siri.

So, as you can see, there are many connectivity options to choose from.

Portability

With a height of 7.4 inches, a width of 14.8 inches, and a length of nearly 20 inches, the Epson ET-3710 is comparatively a small device.

It weighs no more than 13.2 pounds that is around 6 Kgs. The device is smaller and lighter than its brothers, ET-3760 and the ET-4760, mainly because it lacks the ADF technology present in its sibling models.

From the dimensions and especially the weight, the Epson ET-3710 is a highly portable device that you can take anywhere you want, a perfect companion if you travel a lot and print a lot!!

Bottom Line

Overall the Ender 3 did a great job considering its price point. The print quality really exceeded our expectations and we must say that Creality Ender 3 is an extraordinary printer.

It also happens to be the most popular machine currently in the market for a number of features. The tight filament pathway and power recovery mode making it even easier to print with flexible materials.

The Epson ET-3710 is a reliable device that comes with a swath of excellent connectivity options-something that any user will appreciate, and it is also extremely portable and so makes a perfect companion for people who like to travel a lot and print a lot.

Not only that, but the printer prints some genuinely great quality documents with deep dark texts that are well-formatted and looks appealing to the eye, such precision rivals the output quality of a laser printer.

The device was good at printing monochrome texts, but the colored prints came out accurate and vibrant as well, the phots looked very professional and neat.

With such a crisp quality of output, which is mostly required for printing arts & crafts related designs, the feature of slow printing speed can be forgotten.

Pros
  • Impressive print quality
  • Good speed
  • Wide-format
  • Running costs are low
Cons
  • Reduced input capacity
  • Manual two-sided scanning
  • Average cost-to-feature ratio

The Brother MFC-J6545DW inkjet is an all-in-one machine that is a light-to-medium-duty wide-format printer and is best suited for small scale offices or personal home-usage.

The Printer doesn’t only print tabloid sizes (11 by 17 inch) pages, it also performs the operations of scanning, copying, and faxing. And the Printer performs these activities fast.

The MFC J6545DW is $70 cheaper than its more advanced brother, the Brother MFC-J6945DW; however, you lose a lot for this price fall. This includes losing the automatic two-sided scanning and copying, and the input capacity is also reduced. This Printer is a perfect partner for your work if you don’t require these features.

Performance

The Brother MFC J6545DW performs all functions of copying, scanning, and faxing. These operations are performable even on tabloid-sized papers.

This means that every physical feature of the Printer, the paper trays, the automatic document feeder (ADF) and the two paper trays are of wide format, meaning they’re two times the size of regular width and depth of standard letter size media.

Much like its advanced sibling, the Brother MFCJ6545DW comes with 50 sheet ADF; however, it cannot scan or copy two-sided multipage files on its own. This lack of functioning capability is probably due to the low price the MFCJ6545DW has compared to its better halves, i.e., MFC-J6945DW and the MFC-J6545DW.

The output quality of the MFC J6545DW was exceptional. It consistently produced well-shaped, even inked, almost laser-like quality text, which was hard to distinguish if an inkjet or a laser printed the text.

The same story ensued with the Excel charts, and PowerPoint graphics were evenly filled with solid slopes with minuscular level banding.

With the added ability to print borderless photos, this feature allows you to add distinguishing features to your images that are not present with some of the high-quality lasers and inkjets.

Not only is the output sound, but the cost-per-print is also very low. The Printer outputs at a price less than 1 cent for each monochrome page and less than 5 cents for each colored page.

Connectivity

The Brother MFC J6545DW provides both wired and wireless connectivity. You can connect to the internet through WiFi or an ethernet cable. A USB 2.0 port is also available to connect to a PC.

You also have the availability of the WiFi Direct option, which connects your smartphones to the Printer without either of the devices being part of the network.

Having said that, connectivity features that are not included are the touch-to-print protocol, near-field communication.

These features are part of the connectivity features of better Brother models like the MFC-J6945DW.

The connectivity options are also compatible with third-party Apple and Android Operating systems, meaning, the Printer supports Apple AirPrint, Mopria, and Google Cloud Print, Brother iPrint and scan for Android, IOS, Windows and macOS.

Portability

The MFC J6545DW is a relatively big printer. Its height is 12.2 inches with a width and length of 22.6 and 18.8 inches, respectively. The Printer weighs around 44.3 pounds, which is about 20 Kgs. This size isn’t anything new for wide format printers.

As you can tell, this is not a small or lightweight device. With a weight of 20 Kgs, the Printer requires a set space in your office or home because it isn’t much portable.

Bottom Line

Summing up the review, the Nova3D Elfin has great features and the print quality is just incredible. We really loved the printer print quality and the multiple connectivity options. Apart from this, it also has 2K resolution LCD and the LCD screen can also be replaced effortlessly in a couple of minutes. The print is pretty quiet while printing the models.

The Brother MFC J6545DW is an excellent printer that provides wide format printing and scanning options; it’s a machine with an impressive output combined with a good array of connectivity options.

Having said that, it’s priced at $1,000 and is much slower with fewer robust features, capacity, and volume than some of its other siblings.

Pros
  • Great output text quality
  • Impressive printing speed
  • Comparatively low price
  • Portable
Cons
  • Lacks support for external storage
  • Manual duplexing required
  • Average business graphics and pictures

If you’re looking for an entry-level printer capable of performing the functionalities of scanning, faxing, and printing, then the Brother MFC L2710DW provides a promising set of features with an affordable price value. The Printer looks robust and has excellent speed.

The Printer comes with a 250-paper document tray and a 50-sheet automatic feeder along with another manual input tray. With a good range of connectivity options over wired and wireless mediums, the MFC L2710DW is an all-around promising device.

Performance

If we compare regular day printing tasks, the Brother MFC L2710DW has an impressive printing speed of 33 to 36 pages per minute.

When seen in comparison, the Brother MFC L2710DW performs better than other printers from HP and Canon with similar features that print around 25 pages per minute.

Although the Printer has a low-price value, this fact does not affect the monochrome printing quality for text, in fact, quite the opposite.

The Brother MFC L2710DW has an exceptional text quality for monochrome with a resolution of around 2400×600 dots per inch (dpi).

The best part is, the Printer treats all font sizes differently, which helps in small fonts looking clean and crisp.

If we’re talking of regular office requirement printing or small-scale drawing and designs, the MFC L2710DW prints perfectly in the grayscale range. However, the Printer isn’t recommended for tasks that are image intensive like image-heavy selling material.

Apart from this, the flatbed scanner offers a maximum resolution of 1200×1200 dots per inch (dpi), while if you make use of the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF), then the max resolution will be 600×600 dpi.

Most entry-level printers are expensive and don’t provide a good running cost. This is generally true for most low-end printers. The MFC L2710DW has an operating cost of around 3.5 cents per page.

Now, say if we print about 15,000 pages per month, we’ll be spending around $525 per month on printing costs.

Needless to say, this is not desirable since the Printer itself costs around $200. In that case, the only reason you should buy this piece of machinery is if your monthly printing volume is low.

Connectivity

Although the Brother MFC L2710DW does not provide the full array of connectivity options, it does cover you with the basics. This includes both wired and wireless connections, which include Ethernet, WiFi, and USB port for connecting to a PC.

Apart from that, it also supports Apple AirPrint and Google Cloud Print for Android. The WiFi Direct Peer to Peer protocol is also available for use. The iPrint&Scan feature helps you to print from mail and communicate to some cloud sites.

Apart from the connectivity features mentioned, the Printer also comes with the Nuance PaperPort 14SE software, which is essentially a trimmed down version of the PaperPort program used for document management.

This feature essentially helps you not only to save your scanned files but also to save some essential formats.

Portability

The Brother MFC L2710DW is a relatively small and light machine, meaning it will occupy less space. The exact dimensions of the Printer measure up to 15.7 inches in height with a width and length of 12.5 inches. The machine weighs around 22 pounds, which is 11 Kgs.

So, an average weight and small framed device that is portable to an extent will work for small offices or for home usage for students who have to print a lot in monochrome.

Bottom Line

The Brother MFC L2710DW is a relatively small frame device with an excellent text printing capability. The machine is portable to an extent but would work best in a small office or any area where printing volume is limited since the cost-per-print ratio is high. It has a very decent print speed, so lagging wouldn’t be a problem here.

  • Not enough reliable

The Brother MFC L2750DW is a good-value-for-money printer. Although the price is at the high end of monochrome laser printers, the Printer includes two toner cartridges which print a total of 7,500 pages.

All the features of a good laser printer are included in this machine, from the fast Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) to printing and copying in duplex.

The device also performs color scanning, and with a duty cycle of maximum 15,000 papers a month, the machine is made for heavy and robust usage and exceeds our editor’s choice of a laser printer, the Canon MF217w, which has a maximum duty cycle of 8,000 pages per month.

Performance

Jumping into the performance sector, the device has a brilliant printing speed. In a test to examine the printing speed, the Brother L2750DW printed a 6-page document in 19.4 seconds, having a print per minute (ppm) rate of 18.5 ppm.

Previously talking about our editor’s choice Conon MF217dw was near but not quite as fast as it printed the same 6-page document in 22.5 seconds. The Printer also took the leading position for the test of graphics documents.

The Brother MFC L2750DW achieved an excellent print rate for graphics with outputting 5 pages in a matter of 17 seconds, which is almost 17.8 ppm. Compared to this, the editor’s choice, the Canon MF 217dw, printed at a rate of nearly 12 ppm.

However, it is essential to point out that the graphics and image quality was not that impressive for the price range.

The Brother MFC L2750DW offers a comparatively good cost-per-print ration. As many multifunctioning printers have a cost-per-print ration of 4.1 cents, the Brother MFC L2750 does the job in 3.75 cents per page with its standard-sized cartridges. You can reduce this ration by buying the $80 cartridge, which will lower your per print price to 2.7 cents.

Connectivity

If the thought of the average print quality for graphics is bothering you, do know that Brother offers salvation in the form of providing a vast array of connectivity features.

Ranging from the standard wired and wireless connections like the Ethernet, USB, WiFi, and WiFi Direct and the near field Communication, you’re pretty much covered in this regard. With the WiFi direct, which is a peer to peer protocol, you can connect to your Printer through your smartphone without either of the device having to communicate with the router.

The Printer also supports Apple’s AirPrint, Android’s Google Cloud Print, and Brother’s own iPrint&Scan.

Portability

With a height of 12.5 inches, a width of 16.1 inches, and a depth of 15.7 inches, the Brother MFC L2750DW isn’t necessarily a large or heavy device. The laser weighs around 22.7 pounds, which is about 12 Kgs. Not that heavy to pick up, so the device is portable.

The good thing is, for many laser monochrome inkjets, the Brother MFC L2750DW is one of the very few light models in this price range.

Bottom line

We found out three major factors to recommend this printer to you i.e, Lower Price, Outstanding Customer Support and Hackability of the printer. It is a lot of fun to assemble this DIY Kit printer and to be honest you learn the nuts and bolt of the 3D printer.

If it is your first time, yes there will be moments of frustrations while you assemble it but this is how you learn things.

Although the price is high with this one, you’ll be getting guaranteed fast printing speeds with absolutely crisp text prints. The range of connectivity options, coupled with the device being portable, just adds to its benefits.

Again, this Printer might attract calligraphy artists who strive for quality text print outs for their work that requires crisp and to the point printing capabilities.

Cons
  • Manual calibration
  • Sometimes, failed prints are possible

A budget 3D printer that possesses some features that even some of the higher-end models do not have, the creality Ender 3 was one of the most anticipated and looked forward to printer of 2018. Having a compact design with a comparatively cheaper price point has made it a gem of a printer.

The Printer has many features that assist the users through the printing phase with simple steps; it’s quite hard not to appreciate this machine and dive in a bit deeper.

Performance

With a price tag already being low, the print quality is exceptional. Be aware that printing for the first few times may result in failed models, but that’ll be over soon once you understand its functionality. For this, all you require are some experimental designs to understand what setting is compatible with your model complexity.

Make sure you have an extra spool of filament since the Printer does not come with enough filament for you even to complete the first couple of prints. Being cheap, the Ender 3 works with both the PLA and ABS types of plastic. The decision to use either of the two lies on you or which one costs less. PLA costs cheaper than ABS, and so would be perfect for beginners in our recommendation.

A unique feature with the Ender 3 is that the filament feeding mechanism is isolated from the extruder, which sits at the side of the Printer. This clever designing technique helps ensure that the extruding is faster, and the quality of the 3d print out becomes even crisper.

Connectivity

Talking about connectivity, Ender 3 works well with the primary version of Windows, Mac OS, and Linux. Easy to use with a manual guide makes it a good option for beginners. It supports the file types of G-Code, STL, and OBJ. With two working modes of SD online and offline, the Ender 3 cam also resume printing after a power out.

Portability

Coming in with a user manual, the Ender 3 is partially assembled and requires a little focus to be fully set up. When assembled correctly, the device weighs no more than 18.9 pounds or 8.6 Kgs. The Printer has a height of 410 mm with a 465 mm width and a depth of 440 mm.

When you’ve mastered the setup routine, it will be easy for you to dismantle the device and take it wherever you want, thanks to the lightweight of 8.6 kgs.

Bottom Line

The ender 3 is an economical and extremely cost-effective printer that prints fast and with good quality. On top of that, it is lightweight and portable.

Fast printing helps ensure the cost-effectiveness of the device in the long run; in short, this device is a good match for budding 3d printing artists and people who want to make impressive quality prints.

Cons

  • Not portable

In today’s time, it is not hard to meet the printing requirements of a business.

The HP Color LaserJet M454DW can be configured to meet the user’s needs instead of the user having to compromise for minimum features. The Printer is fully loaded with both wired and wireless connectivity options as well as dual-sided automatic printing.

Performance

Since this device isn’t an All in One (AIO) printer that performs scanning and faxing as well, its only job is printing, which it does remarkably.

The printer prints at a speed of 27 papers per minute (ppm) for both monochrome and colored papers. With the added duplex printing feature, images are outputted at a rate of 24 images per minute (ipm).

Not only that, but the average print density of 600×600 dots per inch (dpi) can also be increased to a remarkable 38,400×600 dpi.

The Printer uses the HP 416 original Toner Cartridge range comprising one Black and one colored type.

The color type includes Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow. You can choose from 2 varieties of original HP cartridges, one is the 416A, and the other is the 416X.

Choosing either of the two ranges ensures high-quality print outs for both Black and colored documents.

Connectivity

The HP 454dw supports a high-speed USB 2.0 port and a host USB port on the side bottom.

The Printer also provides built-in dual-band WiFi with authentication through WEP and other security algorithms.

The device is also compatible with Apple and Android Operating Systems, supporting Apple AirPrint, Google cloud print, and Hp’s ePrint.

It also gives printing options through HP smart App and other apps for your smartphone. You also have the peer to peer protocol, i.e., WiFi Direct, which lets users connect their mobile phones to the Printer without either device being part of the network.

Portability

With a height of 29.5 cm, a width of 41.2 cm, and a depth of 46.9 cm and a weight of nearly 42 pounds or 19 kgs, it’ll take more than one person to set up this compact yet delicate piece of machinery.

From the weight and dimensions, it is clear that the Printer isn’t portable, and so deserves a designated space in your home or office.

Bottom line

The ADIMLab 3D Printer is easy to use the printer and is affordable. It can be a good choice even for beginners.

The HP LaserJet 454dw is a fast and economical color laser printer that can handle a small office’s workload. Similarly, it can also be used for a home office or general home usage.

With a good range of connectivity options, the Printer has you covered with quality printing thanks to its HP original 416A and 416X series cartridges. The ADIMLab 3D Printer is easy to use the printer and is affordable. It can be a good choice even for beginners.

Pros
  • Good quality color prints
  • wide range of print media
  • Not that costly
Cons
  • No support for heavy stock media
  • Expensive cartridges

Here we have a printer that will fulfill your desires of clear and high-quality photography pictures thanks to its range of functionally. Your entire view of printing in colors would change thanks to the 8-color ink system.

The Easy-PhotoPrint Pro software further improves the output that fine-tunes your prints; the colors of your prints will also be enhanced courtesy of the Ambient Light Correction, which optimizes the color of the prints with the lightning of the environment you’d display in. The Printer also supports the Canon Fine art Photo Paper up to 13″ x19″, it also has a front feeder for thick and heavyweight paper types.

Performance

Canon has stated that it has made some behind the scene changes to improve the print speed for the pro 9000 Mark II, we weren’t mostly impressed with the print speed of the Canon 9500pro mark II which is more expensive. This had us wondering, what are the changes in speed we can expect from this new device from Canon?

Starting from scratch and attaching it to a Mac test setup, the Printer took about 9 minutes to print high quality and high resolution 13″ x19″ print on semi-gloss photo paper. For other more moderate prints, the Canon 9000 II’s speed was up with the other class A printers as it took the Printer one and a half minute to print borderless 8×10 pictures.

Talking about the print quality, the Canon 9000 Mark II produced high quality, punch, and sparkly colored prints. IF compared with its brother Canon 9500 mark II, the 9000 mark II takes the win easily. However, the quality for regular monochrome prints is where the more expensive sibling took the win.

Overall, for the price tag, the Canon 9000 produced exceptionally vibrant quality colored prints thanks to its 8 ink tanks while the monochrome text quality was alright.

Connectivity

Sadly though, the connectivity options aren’t that vast. There are no mobile connections, primarily through the internet, since the Printer does not support WiFi. You will, however, be getting a USB 2.0 port to connect with your PC.

For connectivity options, the Printer is very archaic in the sense that it doesn’t support Ethernet or other wired and wireless options. You’ll be doing most of the printing tasks over the Printer through direct printing. For operating systems, the Printer supports Windows and Max OS.

Portability

The Canon 9000 Mark II has average dimensions with a height of 26 inches, a width of 7.6, and a depth of 13.9 inches. The Printer weights 33.4 pounds or almost 15 kgs. So, definitely not a portable device.

Due to its exceptional color prints and its weight factor, the Printer is most suitable for a fixed designated position in your house or office.

Bottom Line

Summing up the review, we were impressed with Silhouette Alta and recommend it mostly to all who are vinyl cutting fans. However, if you are looking at this printer to do the 3D printing then it’s build volume is too small and you can print good quality miniatures only.

Overall, the machine itself is well built and mostly aimed at beginners. Moreover the software allows you to get creative and it does outperform other 3D printers at this price point.

The Canon 9000 Mark II is more of an old printer equipped with 8 ink tanks, which probably are the reasons for its heavyweight.

The Printer has no LCD screen or any display at all. Mostly, it’s a regular printer with extremely minimum connectivity options.

But these are all secondary features. The main points which stand in defense of the device are the fact that it is cheap and produces punching, vibrant, high-quality print outs.

Another printer from Canon that will fulfill your desires of clear and high-quality photography pictures thanks to its range of functionally. The Easy-PhotoPrint Pro software further enhances the output that fine-tunes your prints; your prints’ colors will also be enhanced courtesy of the Ambient Light correction, which optimizes the color of the prints with the lightning of the environment you’d display in.

Performance

The canon Pro 100 is a professional printer that prints astounding quality color and monochrome prints. It has a resolution of 4800×2400 dots per inch for both colored and monochrome.

Coming in with 8 color ink tanks, which is its main feature, the Canon Pro 100 makes up for its extremely minimal connectivity options. It has a feeder capacity of 150 at a time and does support borderless printing. The device outputs printed images at a speed of 1 min 30 seconds for 11″ x14″ papers.

Connectivity

Connectivity

Like the Canon 9000 Mark II pro, this Printer also does not support significant connectivity options. There is no WiFi or any peer to peer protocol like WiFi Direct. It does, however, support wired connectivity through Ethernet, and it also possesses a USB 2.0 port.

Also, like the Canon 9000 Mark II, you’ll be doing most of the printing tasks through direct printing. Make sure that the PC you’re working with has either the Windows or Max OS operating system since the Pro 9000 is only compatible with these two.

Portability

Talking about the size and weight of the Canon Pro 100, it has a height of 27 inches, a width of 8.5 inches and a depth of 15.2 inches. The Printer isn’t light or weightless; it weighs in at 43 pounds or nearly 20 Kgs.

This tells us that it isn’t portable, so most of the work you require would have to be done for one fixed place.

Bottom Line

Canon Pro 100 is a heavy set and large Printer that is mostly manual in nature, the Printer does not include an LCD or any display for that matter. It has only 2 connectivity options that are through Ethernet or USB. But then, why does this Printer have a high price value?

The reason for its high price is that it produces punch, clear and crisp prints. These crystal-like vibrant photo prints scream professionality due to its 8 ink tanks, which are probably the reason behind its weight.

So if you’re someone who occasionally likes to take pictures and print them out in large format, then this Printer is the right companion for your hobby.

Pros
  • Meager cost-per-print ratio
  • Extremely portable
  • Good monochrome and color page yield
  • WiFi availability
Cons
  • Slow speed
  • Absence of external storage
  • Only a flatbed scanner

As stated in the name, this little guy is a compact printer you can carry with yourself wherever you go.

The good thing about the S1 portable Printer is that it can work on most surfaces (paper or otherwise).

It is essential to remain reasonable with your expectation with this Printer as it is obvious that you can not print an entire book with this as your hand positioning determines the angle of printing.

Performance

This innovation has changed the world of printing for most of us who love printers and every feature they bring to the table.

The way you work with this is you load your message into the Selpic app, which gets transferred to the Printer. Then you just have to press the P button on the side, and when the top light turns green, you’re ready to print!!

The most significant issue people have here is the price of ink cartridges, when each cartridge costs $80, it becomes really difficult to justify the Printer’s need. However, Selpic says that one 40 mm cartridge can print around 900 A4 pages at 5 percent coverage.

Connectivity

Connectivity is key here; the Selpic S1 only provides connectivity through WiFi. You can connect your Apple or Android device to the Printer through the Selpic app and feed it in a message you want to print.

Also note, there is A USB port at the front of the Printer used for charging.

Portability

It’s in the name, this little pocket-sized device has a height of 4.7-inch, width of 1.5, and a depth of 4.7 inches. It weighs around 13.6 ounces or 386 grams.

Bottom Line

The sole purpose of this device is to be your travel buddy to go with you wherever you want to go, and it’s also useful for craft retailers who’ll want to print serial numbers, tickets, and bar-codes onto packaging.

What to Consider Before Buying

Before we embark on the long list of printers and their detailed attributes, we must first understand what makes a printer suitable for printing arts & crafts?

To begin answering this question, the first question you should ask yourself is, do you need a laser printer or an inkjet printer? The answer to this question is an inkjet printer since it is better and more responsive to printing on different materials.

Inkjets are also lighter and more portable than laser printers. Another excellent factor for choosing inkjets is that they can print complicated and intricate designs in higher resolutions. Now, don’t get us wrong. Laser printers are more suitable for printing fast in larger volumes, but they are more expensive than inkjets.

The next point to focus on while choosing the best Printer is the dots per inch ratio (dpi); this ration indicates the print’s resolution quality. Most professional printers start from a dpi of 600.

Keeping this in mind, most arts & crafts printers do not need a higher rate than 600 dpi. Along with deciding the dpi rate, you should also think about the print size you require; budget printers mostly print on A4 size sheets.

It goes without saying that if you want to print more extensively, you’re going to need a bigger printer that costs more.

Running costs is another feature that varies enormously from Printer to Printer. The type of media you select for printing will also influence your printers’ choice since not all printers can print on heavy-grade art paper and canvas.

Connectivity also needs to be kept in mind; if you’re selecting a printer for your home or personal art use, you may want to connect with it through WiFi from the convenience of any room. You may also like your Printer to have a USB port.

All of these points should be kept in mind before selecting a printer for your arts and crafts work, having said that, it’s time to dive in the list of printers and the features they offer.

Cons
  • Exposed wires on the build plate
  • Fragile Magnetic Bed
  • No filament runout sensor

Canon TR8520 replaces the Canon MX series. You can use the printer for scanning and faxing as well. It serves a range of purposes and fits in pretty much everywhere for your convenience.

Performance

The Creality Ender 5 Pro is pretty easy to build DIY kit and comes with pre-assembled axes, and all you have to do is attach the Z-axis to the base and plug in the printer to the wall socket that makes the printer ready to print.

The assembly of the printer should take less than an hour from start to finish.

The newer and improved filament tubing in the Creality Ender 5 Pro is really amazing to use. The filament is slid into the Bowden tube till it comes out of the preheated nozzle.

Apart from this, the wire management is the thing we really don’t like on this printer. It is exposed and is tied with just one tie-wrap and you may have to use more to route them out of the way with care.

The printing with the new Ender 5 Pro was generally on the easier side according to our experience. The settings were quite easy to tweak in Cura, therefore most of the problems you experience are not tricky at all.

The printer although lacks many amazing features like Automatic Bed-levelling, the durable print bed and a filament runout sensor.

However, we found that the main strength of this printer is that it is very hackable and can be easily upgraded with more amazing features.

When it comes to the printing performance, the printer did a great job even in the torture test we did. The Ender 5 Pro handled it quite well, however, there was a bit of stringing and the overhangs turn out to be looser than usual.

Moreover, the print performance also depends on different types of materials used, since the Ender 5 Pro works with materials like PLA, ABS, PETG and TPU. It prints extremely well with PLA material.

If you see overall, the machine is perfectly fine when it comes to details and giving out really smooth print models. The Ender 5 Pro really amazed us with the quality of the prints it printed and especially with PLA material. The smaller objects turn out to be much better than the bigger ones.

Connectivity

The printer lacks several connectivity options unlike the other printers in the same price range. The Ender 5 Pro comes with SD card as a connectivity option.

Apart from this, the printer has an LCD display with its single selection knob and is built-in with various pushbuttons.

The different types of menus are intuitive and are easy to use. Also, the best thing about the printer is that the speed, nozzle temperature and the bed temperature can be manually adjusted.

Portability

The Ender 5 Pro is really a heavy and bulky printer and the frame dimensions itself are around 552 x 485 x 510 mm and the printer weighs around 11.8kg.

It is surely not the printer that can be transported easily and moreover it requires a really good room on your desk to be placed.

Bottom Line

Summing up the review, the Ender 5 Pro is a very solid machine and it does offer some more premium features like the new tubing system, the silent mainboard for quiet printing and a metal extruder frame.

The print models turn out to be good enough in our experience, also it offers reliability, build quality and the decent print volume it offers.

The only downside is that it has very few connectivity options and the wire management is quite bad. The print bed also tends to vibrate when we were testing it out.

Apart from this, the Ender 5 Pro is a solid choice to go for.

Cons

  • A loose Print bed
  • bed adhesion is required sometimes

Performance

The most appealing feature of the Creality Ender 3 apart from the performance is the incredibly low price segment. The Ender 3 is quite compact and the package is the same. For a 3D printer, we were quite amazed to see how small the box was for a semi-assembled machine with a fairly good build volume. Upon unboxing the printer, the Creality team includes a USB drive, various tool, sample white PLA filament, wire cutter, nozzle cleaner and a spatula.

Are you amazed now? Yes, for a $200 printer it is pleasing to see the extra accessories with the printer. Now coming to assembly part, to be honest, it took a lot of time even for a novice 3D printing expert of around 2 hours to complete.

Let’s jump to the printing performance of the Ender 3. We will certainly not sugar coat things here so, we got few failed prints and adjustments which had to be made before we got this 3D printer running perfectly well.

After assembling and levelling the bed, we printed the sample print on the given USB drive, which was a dog for some reason. However, we got the perfect quality print and a good amount of details and a very smooth finish.

The filament that comes with the printer out of the box, however, is not enough to print even the test file given. You need your own spool of PLA handy.

The only downside we noticed is that sometimes the print model doesn’t stick to the print bed and you will need to put in some adhesion to stick the print on the print bed. Apart from this, we really love the resume function in case of power cuts.

One main thing you definitely need to know about the Ender 3 interface is that turning the knob while on the “main info” screen will adjust the print speed. This feature is pretty handy as you can increase the speed of the print in the case where quality doesn’t matter. To be honest, it can be a downside for many users, because a single bump could screw up the whole print.

Connectivity

The print comes with an LCD screen to control the features of the printer and the printing process. Out of the box, the Ender 3 comes with a USB drive which includes the test print files and the Cura for Windows. Apart from this, the printer also supports SD card to print the models.

Portability

The Ender 3 has a build area of 220 x 220 x 250mm which really allows some impressively sized objects to be printed in it. The machine size itself is around 440x410x465 however, looks very compact in design. The Ender 3 weighs around 8.6kg which is portable and can be moved easily.

The speed of Ender 3 is amazing as well when compared to other 3 D printers around this price segment, or even the printers costing twice this, Ender 3 is fast and the quality exceeds our expectations.

There are of course many other 3D printers out there but since the 3D printing is still a steep learning process, therefore, Ender 3 is an excellent base from which you can easily start out on an amazing adventure.

3. Nova3D Elfin

Pros
  • Proprietary NovaMaker Slicer Software
  • Very sturdy and solid build
  • Multiple Connectivity options
Cons
  • Smaller Build Area
  • No Sample Resin Included
  • Not Hackable
  • No Min. or Max. resin quantity specified

Performance

The Nova Elfin 3D Printer comes in a solid and robust packing covered with protective foam inside around the box. Upon receiving the package, it weighs around 9 kgs in total which makes it easier to ship. Inside the box, you will find the kit to assemble the printer and a 4 pair of gloves to handle the reason. Along with it, you also get a USB stick however no sample resin was found in the packaging.

Setting the printer up after assembling is quite easy since the bed levelling is done at the factory itself. The printer is shipped with the bed fully levelled and that’s a great addition to details. You just have to remove the protective film between the resin vat and 2K screen on the printer to start using the printer.

Usually, we don’t discuss the slicer since many manufacturers don’t offer the custom slicers so you have to use the default slicers available like Cura, Simplify3D, etc. However, in the case of Nova Elfin, the manufacturer provides the custom made slicer called “NovaMaker” and it is amazingly faster than the other third-party slicer. Apart from being fast, it is even relatively easy to use making the beginners experience more fun in the 3D printing world.

In short, Nova Elfin provides us with the amazing print quality and we did expect it since it is a resin 3D printer. However, it is much more incredible than average resin 3D printers and obviously for printing more detailed models like the Miniatures Printing. Considering the price segment of the printer we must say this is an outstanding printer when it comes to quality.

However, we do get only one downside that is the printing speed. We found out that the finer detailed builds took a lot more time compared to the less detailed builds. A finer build in our test took an average of 30 mm per hour and that is really slow. Apart from this, you can also check the properties of resin to be sure that it is not over curing if not the build can become brittle.

The printer is more preferable to be placed in the well-ventilated area since the fumes of the resin are really pungent and also toxic.

Connectivity

The Nova Elfin doesn’t stop on features, another great feature it offers is the wireless connectivity options.

It means you don’t have to tether the printer with the computer instead just connecting the 3D printer to your personal Wi-Fi network allows you to print and even connect to several computers without the hassles of wires.

It also supports the USB stick and has an impressive 8GB internal storage so the printer can hold files without having to be online. It comes with a colour touchscreen which makes the Nova 3D easily navigable and simplistic allowing users to track the controls and print progress.

Portability

The printer is sturdy when it comes to build quality but it doesn’t mean it should be bulky. The build volume of this printer is around 132 x 74 x 150 mm and that’s average making the overall build size of printer less. It weighs around 8kg out of the box and is compact and can be easily placed anywhere on the desk. Since it is a resin printer, you’ll need to place it somewhere well ventilated.

If you’re looking for printing finely detailed prints and don’t really mind the fumes then this is the printer for you.

Performance

The newer FLSUN QQ-S comes with the amazing new features and when all combined makes this printer an extraordinary printer. The new QQ-S comes with the Titan Extruder and it allows the smooth feeding of filament and powerful extrusion.

The printer is set to handle the common print filaments of size 1.75mm such as PLA, PVA, ABS and wood. Apart from this, flexible materials are also supported.

The full metal frame allows for less wobble and therefore the accurate and precise prints. The printer body is made out of the stainless steel makes the less vibration and it does not feature an enclosed chamber, therefore depending on the materials used, you should take a look for toxic fumes which can be dangerous.

The FLSUN QQ-S has a non-removable bed, therefore, it can be hard to remove the prints. The printer supports the print pause and resumes function along with power out recovery which we really liked.

The printer did an amazing job in our test. The model turns out to be good and with a fine amount of details and smoothness. The printer did a great job with PLA filament while with other types of filament the model turns out to be brittle.

Overall the printing speed is really great and at the maximum, it can reach a speed of 300 mm/s but it depends on the settings and the material used as well. The more detailed the print model is the lower the speed will be.

Connectivity

FLSUN QQ-S 3D printer supports various connectivity methods such as USB, WiFi and SD Card. However, in the package, we didn’t get any storage device to store the print files. You will have to use your own. Since it has WiFi connectivity, the printer doesn’t need to be tethered to a computer before printing. It also features a touchscreen with few options on the screen to track the printing process and control the features of the printer.

Portability

The FLSUN QQ-S size is around 290 x 350 x 800mm and weighs around 12 kg out of the box making it big and not that portable. Also, it comes 90% pre-assembled and takes quite a good space on your desk. You also have to place it in a well-ventilated place since the printer doesn’t feature the closed chamber.

Bottom Line

There are plenty of other known printers within this budget, however, the vast field of applications this printer provides along with impressive new features like 32-bit motherboard, cooling, titan extruder and lattice bed.  Apart from this, the printer also did a great job in printing the models however the only downside we had is that the printer can’t print the larger model due to a smaller build area. Also, the print bed is non-removable making it harder to remove the model after printing.

If you’re totally okay with the above consideration and want to explore 3D printing then go for this printer.

Performance

Before getting started with the performance of this device, we let you know that this printer is a DIY kit that needs to be put together all by yourself. Tinkerers love doing this stuff and DIY kits allow tinkers to build the final product from the scratch. The RepRap is another great affordable DIY kit which is very versatile in the operating system and filaments. As for the assembly, you know that this is not your typical plugin-in-and-go printer. After assembly, you will have to download the firmware and software then fine-tune the calibrations on the printer to fulfil your satisfaction.

Once we built and the calibrated the RepRapGuru 3D printer, it makes some amazingly high-quality prints. The prints tend to be smooth enough and showed fine details. The texture can be felt when you hold the prints. We cannot say that affordable machines cannot perform the best, as they certainly can. We were amazed and pleased to see how well the printer performed.

Apart from this, the printer is pretty customizable and it doesn’t just stop there. If you’re a beginner and then once you have mastered the 3D printing basics, you can then hack the printer by adding different parts and modification so that your printer can do whatever as you wish.

Connectivity

The ReRapGuru 3D printer operates with an SD card onboard. You don’t need cable connections or the wireless connection. All you need is the SD card loaded with the print files to start the print job. This is great as it helps to avoid having wired connections and eliminate the worry of losing connection to the computer and getting your prints destroyed. The RepRapGuru however, doesn’t have an LCD display to control or track the print progress.

Portability

The outer dimensions of the RepRapGuru are around 17” Wide, 18” Deep and 15” High making it weighs around 20 lbs. You can easily place it on your desktop table without much worry. Although it is not much of the nuisance to shift the printer since it weighs less and is not heavy.

Overall, the RepRapGuru DIY Prusa i3 3D Printer Kit provides a great performance considering the price point and is a great kick-starter for 3D printing enthusiasts who are very keen on building their first desktop printer.

Pros
  • Plug and play 3D Printer
  • 100-Micron resolution Capabilities
  • Closed Chamber
Cons
  • Third-Party PLA Issues
  • Smaller Printing Size

Performance

The FlashForge Adventurer 3 is another amazing 3D printer featuring the so-called “no levelling” mechanism, which requires a single calibration when setting up the printer. It is quite small in build volume with a 150 x 150 x 150 mm and can print in a resolution of around 100 microns. The best thing in the printer is the removable heated bed that can flex to remove the prints very easily and without scraping hassles. FlashForge Adventurer seems to be really quiet during the printer process. We also have an unexpected 2 million Pixel HD camera allowing users to monitor their prints remotely over cloud applications in real-time.

When it comes to printing, the quality, however, didn’t meet our expectation but it is somewhat lacking and is up to the par considering the price point and the other features involved. We also loved the 3D cloud platform which enhances the functions of FlashForge Adventurer 3 by offering free file storage, automatic slice print files, and gain access to a free model database.

To be precise, the machine is quite a good all-round performer with amazing handy features in places. The performance though isn’t top of the line, but there are not many printers out there competing for the price. This printer supports PLA and ABS filaments and the downside of the printer also lies in third-party filament issues. Apart from that, the printer is a solid machine and especially a very good starting point for beginners.

Connectivity

The adventurer3 offers multiple connectivity options and that is really amazing since a lot fewer printers do offer multiple options when it comes to connectivity. The printer supports USB, Ethernet, Cloud Printing and WiFi. Moreover, for controlling the features and to track the progress of the prints, it comes with a 2.8-inch Color LCD touchscreen which is fairly responsive.

Portability

The Adventurer is pretty small in the build volume as we told above, and therefore the printer size is smaller too. The printer size is around 388 x 340 x 405mm and weighs around 9kg which makes it compact and portable. It can snug on your desktop easily without any hassles and may save you some space too.

Bottom Line

Closing up for summary, we would like to say that the printer has been reliable throughout testing and each time it didn’t fail. The slicer has two modes that are basic for the beginner while advanced for the experts. Apart from that, the software didn’t have any unwanted features. Although we agree that the adventurer might not be able to compete with industrial 3D printers, in terms of build size and handy features considering the price point it is an amazing printer one should get hands-on.

We recommend this printer to the newbies out there and we think that for professionals or experts, this printer might be very limiting to them.

Performance

The ADIMLab 3D Printer out of the box comes pre-assembled however, you still have to mount the frame onto the base with screws yourself which are provided in the box. Apart from this, you attach a few things more like a control box, brackets and wires which are all labelled. It’s easy and quick to do and certainly doesn’t require any extra work.

After the assembly part, you have to plug it in and make sure the bed is levelled. The main thing here is the printer must be hot before you level it, therefore, using the control box, set the temperature. It sounds difficult but the instruction provided with the printer makes it easy.

Coming to the performance of the printer, the ADIMLab 3D printer can print larger design and making it an excellent choice for the one who wants to make large models. However, this feature makes the machine larger and requires extra space. If you do have extra space, then this printer is a great choice and you have more opportunities to take a variety of projects.

Although according to our test, the ADIMLab 3D printer is quite fast compared to the most other 3D printers and since the large objects take much longer to complete, the speed of this printer impressed us in the given price range. The printer also supports a wide variety of filaments including the PLA, Wood, Flexible PLA, HIPS, TPE, ABS and PC. Hence, there are no limitations between projects.

The prints turn out to be amazing and detailed. Most importantly the printer churns out the final product much faster than other printers. We do find little uneven texture is larger prints but that’s fine and the printer did a great job in the given price point.

Connectivity

The printer doesn’t offer much connectivity option but it offers SD card and USB. These connectivity options are more than enough for many users. Although some users do prefer Wireless connectivity, but in this printer that’s not the case. To control the features and track the progress of the print model, you get the 3-inch LCD display. Also out of the box, you do get a 4GB SD card to store the print files and print right away.

Portability

As discussed above the printer is quite large in size that is around 520 x 550 x 620mm and can weigh around 10 kg. It is quite a compact in design and snug on your desktop easily enough. However, it requires little more space since it is bigger in size.

Bottom line

The ADIMLab 3D Printer is easy to use the printer and is affordable. It can be a good choice even for beginners.

It features an easy assemble process and high-quality construction along with extra features like the nozzle light and motor silencer. However, we do have temperature issues with the bed but overall it creates reliable prints and is affordable. It is often a good choice for beginners, even for hobbyists and professional users.

Pros
  • Very Easy to Use
  • A Quality 3D Printer
  • Outstanding Software and Efficient
  • Third-Party PLA Filaments Supported
Cons
  • Only PLA Filaments Supported
  • Very Small and Basic in features

Performance

This Alta 3D printer is made for crafters in mind but it also does the 3D printing just fine. The Silhouette comes with amazing software that lets you design and slice within the same software itself. With most other 3D printers, you need a software for designing and then for slicing. Therefore, with the software included with Silhouette, it makes the process much easier and convenient.

The printing part for the Alta is definitely the easiest part, you just have to send the print files over to the printer and all you have to do is wait till you get the final product. The printer managed to print a fairly good amount of detailed models and the speed was good enough too. However, we cannot say that the final print turns out to be perfect, but it does the job perfectly.

Apart from this, the Alta offers even more features like it can print custom designs that you can create from scratch. It is a versatile printer and the software is just powerful. If you’re a crafter and this 3D printer might open the 3D printing world for you. This printer also allows you to print .stl and .obj formats. You can use any standard 1.75mm  PLA filament with this Alta 3D printer.

The Alta comes pre-assembled and also the bed is pre-calibrated and all you have to do is plug-n-play making it extremely easy for even the beginners. It is small and minimal set-up is required along with the adjustable print settings.

Connectivity

Surprisingly the printer doesn’t have much to offers in connectivity options and it only accepts the USB cable option to connect directly to the laptop or PC. Also, it lacks the display, therefore, everything from settings to tracking the progress of printing can be done from the software itself.

Portability

The printer is way too small in size when compared to the rest of the 3D printers. The print volume is 124 x 124 x 130 mm and the unit size is around 9.8 x 9 x 18.7 inches making it just weigh around 4.5 kg. It can be very easily placed anywhere on your desk or work station.

If you’re a total beginner and getting started with 3D printing and don’t want to spend much on the printer then this is surely a good choice for you to get started.

With the printing technology of lasers, this color printer is full of efficient energy. Usually, the color printers are like monochrome printers but the difference is that the entire printing process runs through four portions like one time it passes through cyan and magenta and then yellow and black.

These four colors are combined in toner with various proportions to generate the full spectrum of color.

Whereas laser melts down the toner powder onto the paper to produce a print although they have high price toner cartridges overall, the cost becomes reasonable per page as it is a printer that has a very fast print speed.

Furthermore, you can utilize the accompanying extra alternatives to print from a Chromebook. HP Print for Chrome application: Supports printing through the Chrome program to USB and system associated printers.

This multifunctional model offers a good blend of ease and efficiency features that small offices will probably like.

It features auto-two-sided printing(duplex) and can print from and scan to multiple memory devices, for sure, we won’t really see these two benefits in many of its competitors in the market.

In the event that you as a Chromebook client need to purchase a modest across the board printer for home use, at that point Brother INK vestment Tank is a somewhat decent alternative. Unquestionably, it isn’t as practical as pricier printers, yet it despite everything has two or three highlights to gloat.

You can print by means of Google Cloud Print.

Performance

It is a revolutionary printer with excellent performance. The printer holds cartridges that provide good internal ink storage to work with printing and two years you can go with the same cartridges without replacing it with the new one.

The cartridges minimize the frequency of ink cartridge replacement as it contains four fixed ink reservoirs just inside the chassis placed on the right side of the printer, just behind where the ink cartridges are inserted and hence engineered to give durable and fine printing for a long period.

This model comes with a medium-sized 3-inch touchscreen display with a user-friendly and versatile interface giving you an experience of much expensive printer models for using multiple functions like scanning, copying, faxing, and printing on top.

Other Considerations

The printer can monitor ink usage with the use of the Brother gauge page and it gives an estimated display of page counts that will highlight the running out of ink so that your time can be saved. It uses wireless printing such as Air print, Google cloud print, and Wi-Fi direct.

You can really save a lot of time and money in purchasing this printer. It has large page yields which cause low price on printing and there is a 1.8-inch color display to navigate powerful features.

Brother INK vestment Tank Inkjet Printer is an All-in-one printer that supports both the duplex printing and mobile printing. prints attractive records up to newspaper size rapidly and economically, making it an extraordinary across the board printer for little workplaces that can live with a manual-duplexing ADF.

  • Comparatively Expensive
  • Heavy use deteriorates print head
  • Jamming issues

It would look pretty rough and unprofessional if the files shared in a meeting had printouts with blown-out ink spots and areas with uneven ink spreading, right?

Well, lucky for you, the HP page wide pro 477dw is a perfect match for such a work-intensive environment.

The HP page wide 477dw will ensure high-quality colored prints combined with fast performance. There’s a lot to look forward to if you’ve your eyes set on this device, and we will discuss it all!!

Before diving into the detailed description of each feature of the HP page wide pro 477dw, let us quickly take a look at the best and worst features of the device.

Verdict

For years now, the general rhetoric has been that lasers are better than printers, the main defense for this general thinking is that they cost less and they work better.

Not now, they don’t. Coming in with its impressive array of features, the HP page wide pro 477dw provides a speedy performance with high quality professional looking colored prints.

This all in one printer performs all tasks of copying, scanning, and faxing. Although the price tag is comparatively higher than other printers, the device justifies it with its high capacity capabilities and low maintenance-this, in turn, helps you save money in the long run.

The page-wide 477dw isn’t competing with smaller inkjets; it is positioned as a genuine contender to laser devices.

For this reason, HP has consciously avoided small ink cartridges in favor of genuine heavy-duty supplies. The printer comes with 3,000 pages worth of black ink and 1,500 pages of colored ink. This greatly helps in avoiding expenditure.

1. Functions

With a sleek and attractive design, the HP page wide 477dw makes a perfect companion for a big office, especially since it prints with high quality and fast speed. The machine also offers wireless and wired connection capabilities to support the features of faxing, scanning, and printing.

The printer also supports multitasking, meaning you can indulge in more than one activity at a time without overwhelming the machinery.

Adding to the low maintenance, the HP page wide 477dw comes with a dual printing feature that allows the user to print on both sides of the paper, allowing you to save some money by not printing on multiple pages.

To reduce waiting time, the printer offers fast sleep mode printing and two sides training, keeping the workflow productive and consistent.

Not only does the printer provide fast and quality print outs, but it is also energy-efficient and reduces downtime and interruption with its Page wide Technology.

This feature in itself makes it a powerful companion for bustling and busy offices that require constant printing tasks.

Another quality feature of the HP page wide 477dw is the utility of its cartridges. The printer makes use of the original HP 972 cartridges. The XL black cartridges run up to 10,000 pages per month, while the XL color cartridges support up to 7,000 pages per month.

Thus, the monochrome cost comes out to be 1.5 cents per page and 2 cents for each color page.

Apart from all the bonuses of speed and cost, the HP page wide 477dw is specifically designed for business customers.

The automatic two-sided printing, primary and secondary trays, and all the fax and email functions coupled with the 1200 dots per inch (dpi) rate. This dpi rate ensures high-quality graphics.

However, there are complaints regarding the price tag, a $700 device is no joke. If you’re looking at this device and stressing over the price factor, you probably don’t print enough and thus don’t require one like this.

In that case, the HP office pro 8710 would be a good fit for you. It’s a lot cheaper than the HP page wide 477dw. Apart from being more affordable, it’s one of the fastest home printers and delivers good quality prints with a resolution of 2400×1200 Dots per inch (DPI). This device is ideal for portability as well since it only weighs around 11.5 Kgs.

Another complaint comes from the use of cartridges. Hp’s genuine 972xl cartridges will cost you more bucks, but its better than using local ones and busting your already expensive printer.

Besides, if you’re someone who prints in volumes, then the Hp Page wide 477dw will save money and time in the long run.

2. Connectivity

HP OfficeJet all in one 7740 printers comes with wireless capabilities, meaning you can print files and documents from your tablets and smartphones. It works for each of the Android, Apple, and Windows operating systems.

Coming with an array of connectivity choices, both wired and wireless, the hp page wide pro 477dw WiFi, Ethernet, USB, and wireless direct, Hp’s proprietary response to the Wi-Fi direct.

This feature lets you connect your mobile phone and printer without either of the devices being networked. The Near-field communication (NFC) gives printing options by touching your mobile device to a hotspot located in the lower right corner of the printer’s screen.

Also, the device is compatible with each of the Windows, Apple, and Android operating systems. So, the printer supports all of the AirPrint, Google cloud print, and HP’s mobile app.

Apart from the wireless options, the wired capabilities of the printer include USB to connect with your computer and an Ethernet to communicate with a wired LAN.

The printer also includes HP’s PCL6 and PCL5e drivers, along with the Adobe PostScript emulation, this provides users a wide range of support for desktop publishing and graphic design environments.

3. Print Speed

Hp rates the Page wide pro 477dw at 40 pages per minute (ppm) for standard mode and 40 ppm for draft mode.

According to a test conducted, the printer was fed regular Microsoft word document, and it churned at a rate of 42ppm, which is two pages faster than the rate standard by HP itself.

When PowerPoint and excel files-that included graphics and images-were fed to the printer, the output rate dropped to 14.3 ppm, a drastic fall that occurs with many printers.

That being said, the 477dw was also fed with test photos, which were outputted in an average of 9 seconds each, this rate is fast for an inkjet but not entirely since the pictures had borders.

4. Output Quality

Output quality of any printer is its most crucial feature since it’s one of the main requirements, the output quality of the HP page wide pro 477dw did not disappoint.

The print quality for the HP page wide pro 477dw is above par, to say the least. With up to 1200×1200 dots per ink (dpi) for black ink and 2400×1200 dpi for a colored ink, the print out quality is really good!!

With the previous test for speed also showed the output text quality, which was crisp and even across the page.

The Graphics were colored precisely and accurately, with minor flaws that included small white horizontal lines across different sections of the page. However, these little deformities are so inadequate that they can only be seen when you’re focusing and looking hard to find errors.

The photos looked great as well, however maybe not as great as other inkjet printers like the Epson WF-6590 which can print borderless pictures and pages, thanks to a design feature known as “bleeds”.

Having said that, the output image quality was better than what you’ll get from most laser printers.

The copy and scan quality were also good, but it is recommended to use a better paper than regular copy paper.

5. Portability:

The HP page wide pro 477dw is by no means a portable device, the printer comes in at a weight of 49 pounds or 22.2 Kgs. It is around 21.3 inches in length, 20.3 inches in width, and 68 inches in height.

Lifting this delicate and expensive piece of machinery should be done very carefully, and since the weight is around 22 Kgs, it is not a one-man job to lift it easily.

Therefore, 2 people should lift the device carefully and permanently set it on a bench or a desk. Adding this beautiful piece of machinery will surely add to your office looking more professional.

You can add up to 550 sheets with 500 papers in the cassette and the remaining 50 in the multipurpose tray. However, if you feel like adding more, you can add another 500-sheet drawer (almost $200), for a maximum of 1050 sheets of paper.

6. Display

Display of any interactive device is its most attractive feature, as times are progressing, we can see changes in the user-interface and the overall quality of a printer’s display.

For a long time, printers had a mediocre or below mediocre touch screen display, which caused many hurdles and had to be pressed forcefully to set an operation into motion; the display was small.

Fortunately, with the HP page wide 477dw, the display is 4.3 inches in size and doesn’t prove to be a bottleneck for your everyday printing activities. With a user-friendly interface, navigation becomes more comfortable and quicker.

Just below the display control panel, you’ll find a USB port available for you to connect to your PC and print any JPEG, PowerPoint, or Microsoft Word document.

7. Running Cost

Talking about the running/ink cost, the all in one HP 7740 has a running cost of 2.1 cents per monochrome and 8.1 cents per color page, based on the HP’s price and yield numbers. Good figures, nonetheless, these are not the best.

With the 477dw’s high yielding ink tanks, running costs reduce and go down to 1.4 cents each for monochrome and 7.1 cents for color. These are competitive numbers for both high and midrange inkjets. The WF-6590’s running costs are 1.6 cents for black and 7.6 cents for colored paper.

A more appropriate comparison to 477dw would be the Samsung ProXpress, a color laser with a price of $549. The ProXpress’s running cost for monochrome is 2.4 cents each for monochrome and 13.5 cents for colored.

Now, if you’re someone who prints in large volumes each month, you can definitely see the differences in running costs for each machinery. The 477dw being $700, has a good value for money and is better in the long term since running costs are much lower.

However, if you’re looking for a printer of similar weight and dimensions for your home-based office that isn’t as heavy on the pocket and delivers good quality prints outs and graphics, have a look at the HP 7740.

Talking about the running/ink cost, the all in one HP 7740 has a running cost of 2.1 cents per monochrome and 8.1 cents per color page, based on the HP’s price and yield numbers. Good figures, nonetheless, these are not the best.

8. Conclusion

With many offices, color prints are not a requirement, but the extra upfront price is more than justified especially considering the high capacity printing the HP page Wide pro 477dw provides.

The low cost of ownership, giving 40 ppm average print speed and an array of versatile multifunctioning features with wired and wireless printing capabilities, further justify the high cost. The security is provided for as well, with PIN requirements for retrieving print jobs.

In all, the pros overwhelmingly outweigh the cons. A flexible range of connectivity options and a color touchscreen display menu coupled with other features of the device justify the price tag.

Performance

The QIDI TECH Shadow 5.5 S once assembled is an amazing quality machine with a very thoughtful modern design and the robust frame.

QIDI adds to this experience by giving the amazing starter kit for the newbies to get started without having an idea about 3D printers.

Apart from the features, it has to offer, the user experience is considered very well.

The Tech Shadow 5.5 S uses the two carbon filters to help filter and eliminate the bad odours that are caused by the printing process. Among all the other things, you get a bottle of Sample resin, a genuine Samsung USB drive and extra FEP film with your printer.

Even though considering that this printer is a clone of a popular machine but QIDI managed to make it their own and add a good touch up and provide us with amazing customer service and a good price tag.

Coming to the performance of this printer, the Tech Shadow 5.5 S uses the ChiTu firmware and pair along with ChiTubox for the print file preparation – the standard in budget desktop MSLA. Using the printer is stress-free, simple and on the easier side and not to forget they have provided comprehensive instructions for complete beginners.

The print quality is on the good side, you can expect the good amount of details, even on the tiniest model you are going to print.

The printing is done edge to edge across the breadth of the plate and there was no sign of distortion. Also, the final layer of whatever we printed has a great glass-smooth finish that you can’t find with every budget resin printer.

Keeping this apart, the Qidi Tech Shadow 3D printer is also quiet in operation. The only voice you can hear is only the whine coming out of the base unit cooling fan.

Connectivity

The connectivity of this printer is simple and out of the box, you get a comprehensive guide to build it up and get it to work. For using this printer, you have this huge 2K LCD at a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels which makes this printer stand in line with the other alternatives out there.

The LCD size put the X-axis and Y-axis resolutions at around 47 microns which is a market standard. It’s fairly easy to use and the ChiTuBox firmware and software allows you to take benefits of anti-aliasing, a feature that minimizes the staircase effect on the surfaces of prints.

Out of the box, you get genuine Samsung USB drive to let you store the print file and print it using the printer easily. The guide to the making of the print files is also included in the guide given with the printer.

Portability

The sturdy design of the printer makes it less compact, however, considering the print area size the Qidi Tech Shadow has a maximum build volume of 115 x 65 x 150mm. The Shadow 5.5 S is quite solid and features myriad machined metal components that make this printer on the heavier side as well.

Bottom Line

Making the conclusion out of the review, we highly recommend this printer to the complete beginners and this is a great kickstart to the world of 3D printing.

While when it comes to advanced users, this printer might look fairly good but not perfect.

However, the printer does the printing of miniatures amazing enough to catch our eyes, especially the glass-smooth finish of the final layers and the distortion less prints even on the tiniest objects we printed.

Therefore, this printer can be a good pick since Qidi is a reputable company and their customer service is just amazing. Moreover, they have air filtration included as well, which eliminates the harsh odours released while your miniatures are being crafted.

  • Closed Architecture

Performance

The Dremel Digilab 3D20 is a desktop 3D printer and we were amazed to see the printer was already assembled and comes with a Quickstart guide, Power & USB Cable, Instruction manual and SD Card. Apart from this, Dremel also included the levelling sheets, build tape and the Dremel Filament Spool.

The printer is already assembled therefore there is no such part of DIY for this printer. In short, you can get started with 3D printing within 5 minutes of unboxing the printer if you are that curious.

The printer is itself quite robust and sturdy in design and looks pleasing to the eyes.

Performance-wise, this printer uses the popular FDM (Fused Deposit Modeling) technique which is used by a lot of 3D printers.

It comes with an amazing operating interface which consists of a touchscreen which allows you to control and track all major functions of the Digilab 3D20 Printer.

The printer has a closed architecture when it comes to the design therefore, it is not hackable at all. For many, it is a good thing and it is not a compromise at all.

The closed system gives better control over the quality of the prints. The printer did a great job in printing the miniatures, they looked amazing with adequate details and texture.

3D20 produced consistent results and we have no complaints with its performance. After printing miniatures for a few hours, we can almost say that this is a great 3D printer with exceptional print quality.

The only downside we got was sometimes the prints won’t stick the first time but after a few trial and error, we concluded that using a painter’s tape and keeping the build tray at perfect level was essential in getting the prints to stick.

Apart from this, it has a touch screen operation making the process of printing simplified and streamlined the process of printing for the one who has limited experience.

Also, the Dremel Digilab 3D20 can be pretty noisy and it looks similar to a microwave and also sounds the same. Unfortunately, the Dremel 3D20 is not auto-calibrating, so you have to be careful with the procedure of the bed levelling to get the best quality print.

It is a very well explained step-by-step instruction so that even beginners should be able to master this in the first attempt.

However, the Dremel 3D20 Printer doesn’t have any kind of filtration system. Even though PLA most of the time is fine but you should be keeping this in mind when exposing yourself and the other to the fumes.

If you happen to be an advanced user in the 3D printing world, then you might feel boxed in with this printer.

Connectivity

The connectivity process is seamless as well in this printer.

You get two options to get started with 3D printing on this printer while the first is a USB device and the other one is through SD card.

Both can be used to store the print files and plug it in the printer to print the model instantly.

To control and track the printing the process, you get a high-resolution 3.1-inch touchscreen LCD which is very responsive.

We were amazed to see that the display is well integrated giving the smooth fluid-like experience due to the amazing operating interface. We had no issues like lags and glitches while operating and getting our first print out of the printer.

Portability

The build volume of the Dremel 3D20 is around 230 x 150 x 140 mm and the design is pretty solid with the closed architecture making it appealing to the eyes. It weighs around 8.5 kg and is heavier than other printers. The print chamber is enclosed and therefore you don’t have enough good view at every angle of the print model.

Bottom Line

The Dremel Digilab 3D20 is an impressive 3D printer and we can surely recommend it to the beginners only if they are willing to sit and spend time to learn and read the step by step manual since it has a manual bed levelling and no heated bed. There are several good things about the printer as well as the drawbacks.

However, this printer does it job pretty well. If you are an advanced user, then you might need to step back and rethink before buying this printer while the beginners and individuals or for classrooms, it can be bought without giving it a thought.

It is also a printer that works out of the box i.e, plug and play.

Do remember that this printer works only with the Dremel PLA only and no third party filament works with this printer.  If you’re also looking to print models apart from this filament then this printer is not a very good choice.

Performance

The Sindoh is a Korean company offering a 3D printer and this company has quite a good reputation in the market of the 3D printers. Since its a bit pricey and the company is well known, we expected high from this printer and we are happy to say that it actually hit our expectations on point.

The printer can print amazing miniatures and print models and supports most filament types i.e, ABS, PLA, PETG, and some other filaments as well.

It also extends support for the usage of the third-party filaments however they purposely made it harder to use them if we try to be honest with you.

On the other hand, this printer is extremely easy to use since it also comes preassembled and with own slicing software called 3DWOX and it is easy to use for beginners as well as offering the advanced slicing options to the experts out there.

You can even make profiles for the third-party filaments.

We printed several models with the Sindoh 3DWOX 1 and all the 3D prints turn out to be of high quality as expected.

The more the layer height decreases, the better and smoother the finished result is, therefore, the miniatures finish came out to be very good without any layer inconsistencies or artefacts on the print surface were visible at all.

The miniature printed with this printer has very smooth surface finish and detailed enough to become comparable SLA 3D print quality.

In short, when it comes to performance, it is a versatile printer that prints with amazing excellence and precision.

Connectivity

The first that caught our eye while unboxing the printer was the big touch screen and turning the printer on actually made our expectations come true.

The touch screen is 5 inches in size and is of pretty high resolution and quality hence the touches were responsive as well.

You can easily start a print through the USB drive, directly through the slicing software to the printer via your network or an application.

The best thing is the built-in camera which lets you monitor the print model printing even from a distance.

For that, you can easily install the 3DWOX mobile application on your tablet or your phone to monitor the progress of the miniature you’re printing from a distance. Moreover, you can also enable email notification for sending you an email when your print is ready.

Portability

The Sindoh 3DWOX 1 has a build size of around 210 x 200 x 195 making it look like a box in design with an enclosed chamber.

It is slightly heavier in weight and weighs 20 kg out of the box. It is certainly not the printer you would be moving it from time to time.

However, the design is aesthetically pleasing to the eyes and the printer do a great job due to its form factor. The enclosed chamber draws in more control over the quality of the prints it produces.

Bottom Line

Sindoh 3DWOX 1 is an interesting 3D printer and by now you must be amazed as well.

It is indeed interesting for many users, whether experts, enthusiasts or just a sole beginner, this printer will satisfy the needs very well. It is a versatile printer that prints with precision, accuracy and gives out the results in very high quality.

Overall, the capability of the printer to make use of the third-party filaments is even more on the good side and the HEPA filtration system along with the upgraded print bed makes it harder to think of any model that could beat the Sindoh 3DWOX.

Cons
  • It is really large and needs a good space

Performance

The MakerBot Replicator Z18 can accurately and precisely print the miniatures and midsize models from the PLA however, not with ABS nor metals, such as steel, titanium, and bronze.

The printer, however, is great in printing the models and it prints by building the model a layer at a time from the melted PLA filaments to perfectly create critical overhangs, compound curves and angled elements without even warping the material.

The miniatures turn out to be professional quality looking models with great precision and accuracy. The miniature was very detailed and the finish was smooth.

The ability of the printer to build with 100-200 micron layers, the Z18 does the printing job perfectly. The American Auto-parts maker and a German robotics company use the Z18 to build prototypes for new products.

The only downside we found is the Z18’s single-extruder design whose supports are made from the same PLA material therefore when the project finishes, they need to be carefully removed before the item can be used.

The speed of the printer varies but at an average, it is capable of laying down material at a speed of 150mm per second, and it can buzz through items very quickly.

The other thing that increases the performance of this printer is the heated build chamber. The MakerBot Z18 has an enclosed structure and heated build chamber to craft your models or miniatures perfectly.

The heated build chamber does the heating for the build process, which causes the PLA filament to cool at a slower pace than usual. The benefit of cooling at a slower pace is less cracking or distortion between the printed layers.

The best thing is that this printer also comes with a built-in camera to monitor the printing process going on inside the enclosed chamber of the MakerBot Replicator Z18.

Connectivity

The MakerBot Replicator Z18 is pretty flexible when it comes to the connectivity. It allows users to send the print files through Ethernet, USB drive, WiFi, and Direct USB to the printer.

There is pretty much no hassles of transferring files from one device to other just to print something. The MakerBot connects to almost anything and there are two ways to control the printer: MakerBot Print or the MakerBot Mobile. In this way, users have full control over all the features and aspects of the printer and the print job.

Portability

The MakerBot Replicator Z18 is quite light and small in size making it enough for a shelf and desktop at around 33.9 x 22.4 x 19.4 inches.

The printer weighs around 40.8 kg and is not really very portable. However, MakerBot also sells a matching base for the printer that raises the build chamber and print to the eye level and provides storage with lockable coasters and it costs around another $1,250 but we think it’s worth it.

Bottom Line

MakerBot Replicator Z18 is a very versatile printer and to be honest, it is one of the best industrial 3D Printers.

Apart from this, it is small and efficient but simultaneously can print enormous models in its class out of the hardened PLA material which gives plastics a run for their money. The printer is obviously a well worthy device for its price tag.

It has everything in control and a very few downsides that too is manageable and if you have the budget for the MakerBot Replicator Z18 then this is the printer you should get. You’ll never regret your money as far as we know.

Cons
  • Stock Extruder is not ideal for prolonged use
  • Pretty Slow Printing
  • Quality Control Issues

Performance

The only best thing we had our eyes on about this printer was its amazing and enormous dimensions. The printer measures around 25.5 inches in width, 24 inches in depth while 28.3 inches in height so you will have to check if you have enough space on your desk or workbench to store this huge machine. In simple words, there are very few printers with such large build volume and yes we were amazed to see it.

It is on our list for a reason, the printer features a quick-heating glass ultrabase print bed which allows you to print in a wide variety of the filaments out there including the PETG, PLA, TPU and ABS.

The ultra base print bed coating makes a lot easier to remove the models compared to most of the other print beds.

Due to the enormous size of the printer, the print speeds are slower than usual which is at around 20-30 mm/s and goes around 60 mm/s.

However, the accuracy and precision remain high and the printer does a good job with ABS and PLA filaments and it prints at a resolution of 50 microns.

It performed really well with the miniatures and the print turned out to be with great details and the finish was pretty smooth for the miniatures.

It was a bit slow but the quality is definitely great. However, if you don’t only print miniatures and print other great and large objects then this is the printer for you.

Overall, we are really impressed with this printer and its consistency despite its size and shape.

The only disappointment this printer gives is the levelling function. Since Anycubic claims the levelling function to be fully automatic as most of the user prefers it to be automated but according to our experience or say in reality, the printer only detects 25 points across the bed surface and these points aren’t stored in the memory,  making a variance in the bed level.

Therefore, you have to level the bed manually and that’s tough for many users.

We are not sure of such issues and never happened with us, but few users reported about the quality control issues with the printer like loose nuts and bolts here and there.

Connectivity

The Anycubic Chiron luckily offers both major options for the connectivity. It provides both the SD card and Wired USB connectivity options.

Along with this, it comes with a touchscreen interface and makes it easier to use and control the printer. Although, it is not the best or the biggest touch screen we’ve ever used, however.

it does the job and is definitely a good feature for a printer that is this big and cheap.

Portability

As discussed above, this printer is really huge in dimensions. We even researched other printers of the same size and we came to know that only one printer comes close to the Anycubic Chiron’s volume but it costs twice this printer.

The Chiron also weighs a whopping 15 kg. Due to the enormous size, you will have to make sure you have enough extra space on your desk to keep this printer.

The printer really did a good job in printing the miniatures and here it is on our list despite its huge design.

Bottom line

Summing up the review, Anycubic Chiron 3D printer falls in the same category where few other consumer printers did before.

Also, the printer falls in a category of desktop printers and comes preassembled. We really love the huge ultrabase and its a plus for the Chiron, which ensures consistent performance for bed adhesion and very easy print removals.

It heats faster than usual and prints stick very well.

Coming to the printing quality, we believe that with the right slicer profile and some perfectly tuned settings this printer can really do an even better job over the stock configuration.

The only downside is that the bed levels are not fully automated and need to do a better levelling manually and the printer rocks. The manual levelling is not really user friendly.

Overall, if you have enough space on the desk and little extra bucks to spend then this printer is amazing for you.

6. LONGER Orange 30

Pros
  • Extensive Cooling System but still less noisy
  • Supports ChiTuBox Software
  • Third-Party Resins are Compatible
Cons
  • The Stock LONGER Software
  • It prints only files of the USB drive limiting functionality

Performance

Out of the box, the Longer Orange 30 SLA 3D printer comes 90% preassembled leaving only the users to put together the acrylic cover.

However, using the included guide will get you started right away. After assembling, the Longer Orange 30 prints quite easily out of the box.

If you’re using the USB drive to print the files, you will have to make sure if it requires formatting since issues with the USB drive will cause the build to fail and stick onto the masking screen and you will be forced to change the screen out completely as builds can’t be removed without damaging it.

The best thing about the Longer Orange is that it doesn’t require to be tethered to a computer.

However, we did put the printers little sister, Longer 10 on the list instead of this printer, but due to the higher resolution this printer offers, it landed up on our list. This makes your prints even sharper and gives them magnificent details.

The 2K High-resolution LCD masking screen along with larger build area allows it to be used in a variety of professions. The printer is also sturdy and very easy to use making it a great choice for offices, labs, classrooms and studios as well as individuals.

Printing turns out to be pretty quiet, and the more you print with the resin printers like the Longer 30, it totally makes sense to set up post-build processing station. However, like us, you can use a disposable mat to put the builds on and you can then remove the supports and clean off the excess resin.

Overall, the printer did a good job of printing the miniatures.

Connectivity

The Longer 30 3D Printer has only the USB as a connectivity option however we also mentioned above about the issue we faced while printing with the USB regarding its formatting.

Apart from this, the Longer 30 comes with a smaller 2.8 inches colour touchscreen display to control the function of the printer seamlessly.

Portability

The build volume of this printer is quite small and that increases the portability of the printer. It fits in on the desk even if it’s narrow or smaller.

The size of the printer is around 120 x 68 x 170 mm and weighs only 6.7kg which is really on the lighter side. It is a compact printer and it is for you if you don’t really like bulky printers on your desk.

Bottom Line

The price and quality when considered the Longer 30 3D printer is a great buy. The bigger build area along with high-quality prints, and temperature sensors packed with easy to use software plus lighter on your desk make it really a great choice for many of the users out there.

It is pretty tough to not like the Longer Orange 30 printer to be honest and it is user friendly for beginners with it’s foolproof and quick assembly.

Pros
  • Ultra-Rigid Frame
  • Modular Design
  • Magnetic Heated Bed
Cons
  • Troublesome Loading Filament
  • The print bed is short in build quality
  • Quite Noisy

Performance

The Ender 5 3D printer out of the box is pretty simple to assemble. The axes come pre-assembled, so the remaining assembly left is to mount the Z-axis to the base and plug in the printer to the wall socket. You’ll find the printed documentation to assemble the printer and it can be done in half an hour.

Coming to the performance of this printer, the prints turned out to be okay, but not great. The miniatures, however, turned out to be great in details and sharp enough.

Apart from this, the more powerful power supply helps in heating the print bed up to 100-degree Celcius. The PLA tests gave in better results than other materials like PET-G and TPU.

Moreover, the printed models should be detailed and smooth. The products have very good quality parts that make the printer more durable.

However, the print speed of the printer is pretty fast but also depends on the height and layering of the model you have put in to print.

The speed is around 80mm/s if the print precision is set to 0.1mm. The Ender 5 is also a budget-friendly printer and in the model of Ender, the magnetic bed doesn’t collide with the frame anymore.

Apart from this, the real lifesaver function which is Print Resume is available for all 3D printing enthusiasts. If the power goes off while printing, you don’t have to start the model from scratch.

This also helps in reducing filament waste as, if this function is not available, one should have to throw the entire model.

Connectivity

The printer has both the options that are SD card and USB for the ease of the users. The SD card and the SD card reader is already included in the packaging along with the printer.  The Ender 5 features an LCD screen for more control over the printing process.

Display

It has a minimal and simple design. At the center of the textured surface is an Instax logo.

It is an all-plastic body that is strong and sturdy despite being light in weight. The round shape of the friendly device means minimum damaging impacts on the body.

The logo of the device also serves as an LED indicator light. It switches color depending on the printing mode of the device.

There is a switch at the bottom used for inserting additional photo paper. On the side of the printer is a cover that comes out to reveal a micro USB port for charging.

Bottom line

In a nutshell, the Ender 5 is a great choice for anyone looking to dive in straight into the world of 3D printing and print amazing miniature models.

Although it does have a cumbersome manual levelling bed, this shouldn’t be much of issue for many of them since it comes with documentation and with slight practice, you will be able to do the levelling manually.

Also, this is a budget machine and you do experience some quirks.

Overall, the Ender 5 delivers everything that it promised and especially when performance is concerned. All the issues in this machine can be fixed quickly and easily therefore, it is not much of a big deal.

Performance

The monoprice maker ultimate 2 comes with masking tape and a glue stick while the large fans make the printing process very noisy.

The printer is suitable for hobbyists and not for professional use.

The printing is made easier after auto levelling the bed and loading the filament spool.

We need to ensure to feed it with a filament detector at the back of the printer. Printing from the included Gcode flies directly yields a great test print. The layer lines are hardly visible but minor seams are noticeable.

The printing is made easy with the Autodesk X Kickstarter FDM 3D printer assessment. However, there were few artefacts and ringing seen when printing at 60mm per second but it can be solved by slowing down the print speed.

The best speed of the Monoprice Maker Ultimate 2 is around 40 mm per second to prevent artefacts and to minimize the hot end heating as it extrudes its design layers.

Make sure to update the firmware from the monoprice website, to prevent under extrusion and to avoid the overheating of the printer.

Overall, this monoprice printer is able to achieve great builds due to its printing capabilities.

The large fans of the printer help the cooling of the printing layers properly and the enclosed build area keeps the print job free from environmental interference. The glass bed is automatically levelled, removable and smooth.

The print quality of the monoprice maker ultimate 2 is pretty good. The unit comes with a resolution of 100 – 400 microns which is very good considering the price range. The printing speed of the Monoprice Maker Ultimate 2 is 20mm – 150mm per second.

Connectivity

The Monoprice Maker Ultimate 2 printer comes completely assembled ready to print out of the box. Once you plug it in, you’ll have to load the filament and level the printing bed.

It also comes with a PLA filament, a filament holder, micro SD card reader, metal scraper, USB cable, switch cable, motor cable and various power cords and user manuals in various languages.

The company has included 8GB micro SD in the package for storing the print files and printing it.

Monoprice maker ultimate 2 is a printer which is very simple to use and is designed to be used by people with all the abilities by the beginners or by the experts, therefore, the printer is easy to use without tethering to a computer.

Although the lack of touch screen is a little disappointing. Although the buttons and dial controls are tactile and don’t slow down the workflow. It can easily be connected through USB and Micro SD card.

Portability

The printer comes in black or white. There is a 3.2 inches screen at the top. However, it is not a touchscreen. Instead, what you will see is a range of buttons for choosing any of the functions. You can tilt the screen forward for clarity.

The monoprice maker ultimate 2 printer comes with a build volume of 200mm x 150mm x 150mm which is (7.9 in x 5.9 in x 5.9 in).

It’s made of the all-metal body which makes it very sturdy and compact considering the printer’s build volume the printer is not portable enough and is on the heavier side.

Bottom Line

You will find the many unique features to tweak up your photos entertaining. There is a party shuffle mode whereby all your friends can connect to the device at once.

You can create a collage using all the pictures and stick it on any surface to keep your memorable day close to your eyes and heart.

Overall when it comes down to the price range of the printer it has various amazing features and specifications to offer such as the heated and removable glass built plate. Auto bed levelling, built-in filament detector and internal lighting. All these features make the printer worth purchasing and value for money.

The enclosed build area makes the printer a great addition to any space. But the noisy printing process makes it unsuitable for professional spaces like office and classroom.

The noise is produced from the large fans which help printers in achieving high quality builds and also slow the build speed down to 40mm per second to stick the filaments that don’t require temperature above 250 C to print.

  • No autoload feature

Performance

The printing process is made very easy and accessible with the Mosaic Palette 2 Pro Review.

The 3.5inch colour touchscreen helps us access and navigate through all menus and settings of the 3D printer within seconds.

The setup of this printer is very simple as it does not require any calibration.the automatic calibration takes place during the very first print and is designed to get better with every print.

The printer comes with a mounting plate and a stand but using them is not necessarily required. The printer can also be laid flat on any hard and smooth surface.

In the palette 2 Pro, a buffer system is used to feed its filaments into a print job. The printer is capable of using four filaments at a time.

The mosaic palette 2 pro is very functional when it comes to connectivity. It can easily be connected via USB and Micro SD card.

It is compatible with almost all the 1.75 filament 3D printers. The mosaic 2 pros can also be paired with Mac, all the windows, Linux and also Ubuntu. Which makes it very easily accessible.

The colour touchscreen which is 3.2’’ and 240×320 pixels provides us with all settings at our fingertips. The splicing technology of the mosaic palette 2 pro is splice core pro 1.0 which is a solid-state splicer.

Portability

The attractive printer that befits the modern era has sleek lines that are a contrast to black and grey portions of the well-built printer.

The circular power button at the top left corner of the printer turns a bright yellow LED ring that alerts on the modes of the printer.

Below is a red print button. The mosaic palette 2 pro is quite portable as the weight of the printer is around 3.6 kg.

The printer’s dimensions are measured about 23×20.4×8.4cm which is 16’’x11’’x9’’. The mosaic 2 pro comes handy and it is very portable when compared to all the other 3D printers. As the name suggests, it provides pro speed and pro printing quality.

Bottom Line

The printer is amazing in our list and the best part is apart from miniatures you can print everything from phone cases to rubber watchbands.

For amateurs, it is also easy and approachable to work with bu dept of customisation might be required for professionals to work with this printer. Palette 2 Pro is great for making detailed, colour-rich 3D, textures and skins.

The only thing we expected more is the bigger touchscreen and that’s all however, the support for Bluetooth in the connectivity option is also a sweet deal. We can’t help but recommend it to you.

It has a low purchase cost but a comparatively high per print cost. It is not like conventional printers in that it uses 5-color ink cartridges instead of 4; 3 of which are dye-based colors and the rest are black pigment cartridges.

This allows it to provide a great, versatile tonal range. This is so much more than you can simply ask for in a budget printer.

With a decent print speed of 10-15 Pages per minute and a resolution of 4800×1200 dpi, this printer can be the best choice for hobbyists and owners of small businesses.

It also offers wireless connection where you can print via Bluetooth from your tablet or mobile device using AirPrint or Mopria etc.

This is a high-performing printer that comes at the best value. It has a continuous ink supply feature which is perfect for high volume printing and comparatively low quality.

The per-print cost is only a fraction of other good quality printers.

Although this printer does not provide the professional level of print speed and color fidelity, it is a fine printer for average use and simple label printing jobs.

As this printer is comparatively high-cost upfront, you will have to be certain that you require a larger printing volume before deciding to purchase this device. It offers Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi networking connections.

It also features a voice command activated printing function where with the help of Google assistant you can give the printer clear and detailed instructions, thus making the printing process much easier and efficient for the user.

It is an expensive printer to procure and also to operate as it has a high per-print cost.

It offers Wi-Fi, Ethernet and USB connections and has the ability to print on CDs and DVDs.

It has an extremely slow print speed owing to the superior quality and the level of detailing (4800 x 2400 dpi) that it provides, and can produce waterproof labels and stickers with aesthetic colors and gradients.

It also supports Distinct CLI 42 Ink Tanks that can go a long way in cutting costs and managing ink compatibility easily by simple value tank replenishment. What to Consider Before Buying

While it is quite a tempting idea to go for the printers that your peers have, it may not be the best one because as it stands; a printer that seems to be good for others may not be as satisfying for you.

So instead of following suit with your peers or friends, you need to understand what exactly is that you need your printer to do and how you want it to do that.

Following are the few things that you need to keep in mind while purchasing a printer for your sticker printing needs:

1. Your needs:

You have to broadly outline what functions you need a printer to execute for you. Do you need it to print stickers only?

Do you need a printer that is an all-in-one device that can print, copy, scan and fax documents as well as it can print your stickers? Are you into the commercial printing business?

Do you want it simply to make product labels for your business? Or are you just a hobbyist who loves DIYs and creativity?

Defining what you primarily need from your printer can go a long way in enabling you to realize and choose the ideal printer that best fits all your needs.

2. Sticker paper:

Next, you have to know what kind of sticker paper you are going to use.

Do you want Vinyl stickers? Matte? Glossy? Or some other type of stickers? You need to determine what type of paper you want to print your stickers on and how thick it is.

Doing so will save you a lot of trouble if later on, you come to find out that the printer you un-informedly bought is not compatible with the type or thickness of sticker paper that you require to print on.

So you will have to check paper compatibility in product specifications.

3. Budget:

You have to look into the amount of money you can afford for the purchase. If you need the printer for business needs, your investment will be very different from when you need it for your personal everyday use.

4. Ink:

Assessing your printing needs with respect to how frequently you’re going to need to use your printer is one of the crucial steps in deciding what printer you are going to buy. Are you going to use it on a daily basis? or weekly or monthly?

Focus on the Ink capacities of various printers and keeping in mind the frequency of your printing, check out the Ink replacement and maintenance costs for each printer.

If you require a larger print volume then it’s best that you go for a printer with large-capacity ink cartridges or tanks with minimal refill cost and vice versa.

5. Size:

How much space can you afford for your printer to sit in? Do you need a lightweight, compact printer that saves you space?

Or do you want a heavy-duty large machine? The size of the printer you are purchasing should be in accordance with how much space you have for it in your home, office or workplace.

How many times has it been that you’re delivering an office presentation where you have to hand out documents with bar charts, histograms, and other detailed requirements?

You must make sure that the documents are well formatted and persuasive, right? You have to make sure that the printed files do not have blown out ink spots, or areas where the ink is too light to see.

A clear, well-formatted, and readable document is crucial under these circumstances. But we’ve all been victims to flawed print outs before, which is usually a nuance although it doesn’t have to be.

  • Low recommended duty cycle

The all in one HP 7740 office printer ensures that you’re fully accommodated in this regard by providing vibrant, high-quality color prints that cost up to 50 percent less per page than a color laser.

Not only that, but this A3 printer can also fax, scan, and copy documents, and it also comes with double paper trays. Now, this is all said and done, but is the printer good with other materials, and is it efficient with ink usage?

These are the questions we intend to answer for you in this review, so let’s dive right in!!

It’s essential to know about the best and maybe not so best features of the HP 7740 before we get into the detailed description of its functions.

Verdict

Overall, the HP 7740 printer is a brilliant device for office usage, it’s in the range of the upper-class OfficeJet series of inkjet printers. There are a lot of options in Officejet series. I reviewed HP officejet pro 8710 and 820 last month. Both are pretty good. But this one seems less expensive which is pretty good.

A printing speed of 22 black or 18 colored pages per minute makes it an ideal machine for printing and scanning office files and other A3 documents. You can even store a full ream of papers in each of the 250 sheet paper trays.

In other words, the HP 7740 is an ideal printer for small to medium offices that generally require printing on A3 size papers. If you are looking for a wider format printer, you should consider buying one of 11×17 printer which are specifically designed for office use.

The recommended duty cycle for the machine is about 1,500 prints per month, for optimum quality. However, if you feel like printing more, it’s more suitable to look at other MFC printers.

There have been some concerns with regards to the paper size. This is just a simple fact; any 11×17″ paper will most likely be expensive. But quality printouts demand extra bucks, so, if you want to get the best photos from your wide format printer, be prepared to spend some extra money.

People have also complained about high maintenance, mainly due to broken printers because of using generic cartridges. This brings us to another issue you have to be wary of; only use branded cartridges for the HP 7740, or you’ll end up with a busted printer.

1. Functions

The all in one OfficeJet 7740 provides an array of features and functions.

If you’re a fan of large format prints, the 7740 has you covered since it supports wide-format printing; besides that, the machine provides dual-side and professional quality printing features. The device includes the functionality of printing, scanning, faxing, and copying in a standout quality.

You’re promised to receive vibrant graphics and clear dark text on sizes, from letters to tabloids. These functionalities are provided for documents up to A3 in size.

Talking about the printing speed, you’ll be pretty satisfied since the machine prints at a rate of 22 pages per minute (ppm) for monochrome and 18 ppm in color.

The resulting documents and files will look neat, crisp, and clean, thanks to the 4800×1200 resolution. Not only that, but the device can also store up to 500 pages thanks to its twin paper trays. You can store the standard A3 in one and super A3 in the other.

Thanks to the automatic duplexing, you’ll be able to scan and print on both sides of the paper, the printer also comes with the automatic document feeder (ADF) which can feed up to 35 sheets at a time.

In short, this device is perfect for any small-scale business or home usage. One thing you need to keep in mind is that even though the page-per-month duty cycle is 30,000 on paper; you can only print up to 1,500 documents for optimum quality, this is the recommended duty cycle for the HP 7740 printer.

2. Connectivity

The HP OfficeJet all in one 7740 printer comes with wireless capabilities, meaning you can print files and documents from your tablets and smartphones. It works for each of the Android, Apple, and Windows operating systems.

Thanks to the WiFi direct setup, you can easily print from your smart devices through wireless printing.

The printer is compatible with the Apple AirPrint, and it also supports printing from Google Cloud print. The device does not include PostScript but does support PCL drivers.

The all in one HP 7740 also comes with wired printing choices; the device has a USB to connect with your computer and ethernet to connect with a wired LAN.

3. Portability

Perhaps, the greatest disadvantage of the OfficeJet HP 7740 is its portability; the HP 7740 is a heavy and large device, with its exact measurements being 15.1 inches high, 23 inches wide, and a depth of 18 inches.

The machine weighs 42.9 pounds or 19.45 Kgs. Knowing these dimensions, it is preferable and more suitable to set the printer on a desk or a bench.

To avoid any breakage by fall; it is recommended that two people should do the moving work when and if required. Being heavily set makes the device a proper companion for your home-based office with its designated position permanently reserved.

4. Display

An essential feature of any interactive device is its display; many old printers had a terrible touch quality where you had to press hard to ensure the operation was set in motion.

This isn’t true with the HP 7740; the printer comes with a 2.7-inch LCD display that is smooth to the touch and manages all of the printing and scanning tasks impeccably. The colored screen display provides a comfortable user interface that is easy to navigate.

A touch-sensitive border surrounds the display, and just below the screen, you can find a USB thumb drive port; this is included so you can upload and print any documents or images from your computer. Surely, with the print quality of the HP 7740, you’re in for some high-quality print outs.

5. Output Quality:

Of course, when we talk about a printer, the output quality is what mostly concerns people, as it should.

If a printer has a sleek design and an attractive user interface, these are merely plus points; bonuses to the main requirement, which is the output quality.

Fortunately, with the HP OfficeJet 7740, you’ll receive an above-average text for an inkjet, extremely crisp graphics, and above-par photos.

The text appears to be on par with most office requirements except for those who require tiny fonts, which generally isn’t the case with inkjets.

Having said that, there is a minuscule flaw in the graphics; there is a small level of banding in some backgrounds, but most users will not notice these little discrepancies.

As mentioned earlier, in a meeting when you’re distributing PowerPoint files to clients and colleagues, you can rest assured that the text and graphics combination will deliver an impressive and persuasive impression on the meeting members.

If you’re someone who likes to take photographs occasionally and print the best ones for your bedroom, the HP 7740 delivers images that are a tad bit better in quality than drug store prints.

6. Print Speed:

With a print out rate of 22 pages per minute of monochrome and 18 pages of color, the OfficeJet 7740 delivers an impressive print speed.

Of course, there is no direct way of comparing it to other good quality printers. However, we can easily say that 7740’s printing speed is an impressive one.

There was one test conducted; it was a comparison between the Brother MFC J5720DW and the all in one OfficeJet HP 7740.

Both printers were fed with an identical pair of PowerPoint and PDF documents. For both of the documents, the HP 7740 printed them in less than half the time it took the Brother MFC J5720DW.

7. Ink Cost

Talking about the running/ink cost, the all in one HP 7740 has a running cost of 2.1 cents per monochrome and 8.1 cents per color page, based on the HP’s price and yield numbers. Good figures, nonetheless, these are not the best.

The contender who lost to the HP 7740 in the speed test, wins in the running cost department. With a cost of 1.7 cents per monochrome and 7.6 cents per colored paper, the MFC J5720DW is more economical and affordable.

A built-in feature with the HP 7740 is, it tracks your ink usage, and when the cartridges are near their finishing point, it automatically reorders the original HP 952 cartridges. This can be a deal-breaker for some people since original cartridges cost more than generic ones.

Having said that, it is better to spend some extra bucks and use original cartridges instead of using generic ones and ending up with a busted printer. On the bright side, the printer comes with a free starter ink pack to get you started with your printing tasks.

8. Conclusion

Throughout this review, we have seen more pros than cons, from high-speed printing to excellent output quality documents.

The built-in features of twin trays that provide a generous capacity to hold up to 500 papers and the array of connection choices, both wired and wireless, with the capability of printing on paper up to tabloid size, make the all in one OfficeJet HP 7740 a promising piece of printing machinery.

However, there were some definite lows for the HP 7740. For example, if you print a lot and want to save money, the Brother MFC J5720DW would be a much better choice as it’s running costs are lower.

Having said that, the MFC J5720DW doesn’t come close to matching the output quality of the HP 7740, there’s a world of difference in the speed department as well, with the HP 7740 being twice as fast than the MFC J5720DW.

To conclude, if you want a quality device for your home-based office or any other small-scale usage, that prints fast with good quality output, you have to be ready to spend some extra money.

Choosing and spending $200 on a 3D printer can be tough, and here I am to help you pick one that’s best for you.

After researching for a couple of hours, we were able to make a list of printers that fall in a budget and perform really well in the market.  You can pretty much make your decision based on the above table, but if you want to dig deeper into each model, keep on reading this article.

1. Monoprice Select Mini 3

Pros
  • Works with any Standard Filament & Slicer
  • Very Affordable
  • Simple Operation
  • Well-built and sturdy design
Cons
  • No wireless features
  • Difficult to calibrate
  • Unprotected Build Plate

Performance

The Monoprice Select Mini 3D printer is an affordable printer and we surely can’t have a very high expectation with its performance. However, it blew our minds with its performance when we tested it. It isn’t perfect, but very easy to operate while producing consistent and reliable prints.

The printer does have some issues as it is not perfect, the calibration process is bit difficult and the changes in temperature, while the hotend is in use, makes it not so perfect printer.

Apart from all this, the Monoprice Select Mini is an amazing features-packed little machine. It works perfectly fine as it is described to and print outputs were astonishing and obviously exceeded our expectations.

The best thing about this printer is that it can be customized or say hackable, for the one who is brave enough to disassemble it and make some upgrades to the printer. For many of them, upgrading the firmware and changing the hotend would be the first thing they do and then lay some importance to the glass for the print bed.

We can easily recommend this printer to the beginner and definitely it will surprise them.

It used to be a joke a few years ago if someone said that 3D printers are for $200. There was a time, people would get excited about the 3D printers when they were less than $800. Now as the technology advances, there are many 3D printers in or under $200.

The printers feature a build area of 120 x 120 x 120 mm and the highest print resolution of 100 microns, along with a heated build plate and the printing speed of 55 millimeters per second.

To print with this printer, you can upload your files to the Monoprice Select Mini printer through a microSD card slot or use the USB Connection.

The applications supported to prepare the objects for printing are Repetier-Host, Simplify3D, ReplicatorG, and Cura. The printer can parse the standard GCode and is not really confined to proprietary software.

When it comes to the filament, it can accept any standard 1.75mm filament i.e, ABS or PLA thermoplastic. It doesn’t require any special filament to work.

Connectivity

The setup of the Monoprice Select Mini 3D printer is on the easier side. You will be able to set it up and start printing in or under 20 minutes or less. However, you will find the basic setup instructions inside the box.

The box comes with a microSD card which is of 256MB storage, a micro USB cable, plastic spatula for scraping, AC power adapter, and hex key for leveling the bed platform.

Once you connect it to the wall socket using the AC power adapter, it turns on. The printer doesn’t come with filament in the box, and you will need to buy it separately in order to print.

For setting the printer up, you get a full-color LCD interface with a click-wheel. The menus written on it, are clear and well thought.

The interface will let you start out the calibration process and preheating of the hotel and then loading your filament.

Portability

The Monoprice Select Mini 3D printer is well built and robust in build quality. It comes with the golden sheet metal which houses the electronics.

It is compact and portable and is easy to transport without damaging it.

Other Considerations

The printer did an amazing job printing the models and we really like the quality it produces.

The minor trouble this printer gave was during the operation, the print bed moved forward towards the front of the machine, which stopped us from accessing the click-wheel controls.

Another consideration: in hot temperature has a margin error of about 5°C. It can be a problem while printing materials more sensitive to temperature changes.

There are obviously flaws in this printer as we discussed, but if you’re a beginner and are looking for low-cost 3D printing which is a low-risk way to explore 3D printing, this is the best choice.

This printer will provide you with a lot of education and entertainment at the same time. It’s easy to use and its print quality is fairly close to rival 3D printers costing three times that of this printer.

2. XVICO X3 Pro

Pros
  • Removable glass bed
  • Durable and Smooth
  • Makes less noise
  • Filament detection if it runs out
Cons
  • No heated beds
  • No USB Connection port onboard
  • Standard size filament spools are not supported.

Performance

The XVICO X3 3D Printer is just another 3D printer that has a solid design and makes it long-lasting.

This is a great printer if you don’t look further to invest more in the 3D printer after a few years, you don’t want to have the one that would get damaged after a few years.

The size of this printer is great and its size allows you to print models that are large enough.

The nozzle on this printer is self-cleaning therefore it prints out high-quality and amazing models.

The best feature on this printer is the removable bed which makes sure that you don’t damage your prints when you remove them and they stay in the perfect condition. The material used to make the bed is strong and doesn’t break easily.

The XVICO X3 3D printer itself is made from durable and very strong metal material making it sturdy.

The metal makes the LCD screen strong too and the sturdiness makes sure that the printer doesn’t shake when you are using it. The LCD onboard shows you how the model looks after it’s all finished.

The size of the print this printer can make is 220 x 220 x 250 mm which is a large print.

Therefore, this printer can print large models that are of high quality. The printing speed of this printer is 20-200 mm/s but it completely depends on the setting you set on the printer.

The speed is however fast and you have a model printed in around 2 hours. This printer comes handy even if you printed several models a day.

Connectivity

The printer has the MicroSD card slot onboard with which you will able to print your model.

You will just have to store the sliced GCode files, then plug the card into the microSD card slot to print even without the need to connect to a MAC or Windows. The printer comes with a 2GB microSD card out of the box.

The Xvico X3 3D printer has a touchscreen and that’s a great addition to the printer. The touchscreen was pretty responsive.

Portability

The printer size is big enough and it prints a fairly large model. Therefore the printer size is large. It is not as compact as the rest of the other 3D printers in this price segment.

Bottom Line

Coming to the conclusion, this XVICO X3 Pro 3D printer is overall a good printer but we certainly don’t recommend it to be your very first choice for a beginner printer.

On this printer, we feel the exposed wires, and the power supply seems to be a great safety issue. Overall, the X3 Pro is a solid and nicely built printer. The slide-out bed and the touchscreen is a cool feature to have on a 3D Printer.

3. Longer Orange 10

Pros
  • 2.8-inch touchscreen
  • he printer comes with Resin
  • Uniform light distribution
Cons
  • Slicer Graphic User Interface is very basic
  • The printer requires manual levelling

Performance

The performance of this printer certainly blew our minds to some extent. Since this printer is one of the resin-based printers, the quality and the details of the print from the Longer Orange 10 3D printer were very impressive.

However, the print quality doesn’t perfectly match that of prints by the industrial 3D printer but is very close and fairly good enough for more detailed applications like jewelry and miniatures.

The printer has an accuracy of 20 microns and features a manual bed leveling.

LED technology makes the printer more efficient. It is an LCD resin printer and is one of a kind with several compatible resins like Rigid, Castable, and Dental resins.

The printer uses the special optical paths designed to achieve uniform light distribution and intensity giving us improved print quality and generate less debris during printing.

The printer is also equipped with high-temperature warning function which pauses the printing process automatically at high LED temperatures and will resume it back automatically upon sufficient cooling.

It is easy to use and also has easy leveling of the platform by 4 screws.

Performance-wise the Longer Orange 10 is amazing and provides better printing performance when compared to the rest of the many printers in the price segment. It is because the matrix illumination provides better uniformity, shorter time of curing, and higher intensity.

Connectivity

The printer is fairly easy to use. It comes with the support to print offline using the TF card. The operation on this printer is pretty easy since the printer is equipped with a 2.8-inch full-color touch screen which helps you to choose the printing file and view print progress.

The printer automatically identifies the print files in the TF card for offline printing.

Portability

The printer build volume is 98 x 55 x 140 mm which makes it more portable and compact compared to the rest of the 3D printers.

However, this also means that the print models won’t be large enough since the printing area would be less too. Being a resin-based 3D printer, the design is not as sturdy as the other printers.

Bottom Line

Brother MFC-J5830DWXL has an Auto Sheet Feed for photocopying that can hit up to 200 pages without any problems.

The best selling point of this printer is the custom slicer Longer offers. It is because the custom slicer is up to 30 times faster than the open source solutions, according to their manufacturer. Therefore, it’s pre-configured in the Longer products and the setup for beginners is very less, unlike third-party software solutions.

This makes this printer easy to use for beginners and moreover it is also portable and compact in design. If you’re a student or teacher, just having to explore 3D printing then look no further.

Brother MFC-J5830DWXL has an Auto Sheet Feed for photocopying that can hit up to 200 pages without any problems.

It can girdle up to 35 pages per minute, which is fast while bearing in mind the quality of prints that come out.  Considering that the device is larger than average size, the rest of the printer leaves naught to be looked-for.

It gives you a high-quality printing experience, which is also economical and it makes very little noise compared to the competition.

Cons
  • Limited Filament
  • No Heat-bed
  • High-resolution printing is pretty slow

Performance

The printer has amazing looks, color, and design making it look more appealing than the rest of the 3D printer in this price range.

The da Vinci Mini 3D printer is in bright orange color with the black colored trim and weighs around 24 pounds. It measures 14.2 (H) x 15.4 (W) x 13.2 (D) inches and has a build area of 5.9 x 5.9 x 5.9 inches which is pretty much the same when compared to other budget 3D printers.

The amazing feature on this printer we noticed is that the da Vinci Mini is that it automatically does the leveling of the print bed before each print. The only downside is that it becomes difficult sometimes to remove the printed models from the print bed.

The da Vinci Mini did a great job when tested at the good resolution and had no operational issues at all during the printing process.

The print quality turns out to be average among the 3D printers we tested. However, none of the printers has the combined solid print quality along with misprint-free consistency considering the da Vinci Mini’s price.

The da Vinci Mini works only with filament from XYZprinting. However, since the filament is not expensive and comes in a pretty good range of colors, it cannot be considered as the downside.

Also, with the da Vinci Mini we did have issues with the prints not sticking to the print bed: we found that moderate-size print models tend to peel a little from the edges even with the applied white glue as recommended by XYZprinting and its software.

When it comes to print speed, the printer can be both a very slow or very fast printer. The printing at the normal quality preset then it does the job of printing in little less than 4 hours which is significantly faster than other printers.

While if you increase the print quality, the time increases further making it very sow.

Overall, da Vinci Mini did a great job and produced the clean, smooth prints with acceptable details in most of the tests we conducted with only a few flaws.

Connectivity

The da Vinci Mini doesn’t have any controls on the printer onboard. Everything is included in the XYZware program, and it is available to download for free for both MAC and Windows PC. However, the program is very simple to use and has a great user interface to interact with the printer from within the software.

You can do various tasks including the rotatable preview of the 3D model, scale, load, or shift of multiple models to print at once, however, you can’t edit the models.

Apart from this, the printer is plug and play with very simple hardware setup that can be done with following the instruction manual. You can also print either over a USB or Wi-Fi connection.

Portability

da Vinci Mini has a build volume of 150 x 150 x 150 mm which is fairly compact yet big in size. The printer is not compact enough but that is not a compromise since you can print large models on this printer. It’s big in size but looks appealing and colorful and it’s not the regular black printer.

Bottom Line

Summing up, the da Vinci Mini clearly a promising 3D printer and it provides you with a lot of printing performance for its $200 price range, producing attractive, clean prints with only a few glitches. The good presets it has, provides the best balance between the speed and quality.

The only downside regarding this printer is the flexibility since you will have to print only with ABS filament which can be bought directly from the XYZPrinting.

This simply means you can’t use different types of filaments like nylon and wood. This is not a problem for many users. If you need a quality 3D printer to get started and you like to have the easiest possible operation and the software that can pretty much do anything from the 3D slicing to the 3D modeling, then the da Vinci Mini is for you.

  • Not kid-friendly

Performance

The cheapest 3D printer in the market right now and it stands close enough to rest of the printer but certainly not very well.

The Kingroon 3D printer packs in really surprising features such as the responsive touchscreen, very quick and easy setup, and of course removable magnetic bed to easily remove 3D printed items.

The 3D printer works just out of the box. It hardly consists of 3 pieces and doesn’t even need instruction to build so beginners, here’s your chance.

The large knobs and onboard adjustment wizard makes it easier to do the bed leveling. All you have to do is follow instructions.

The Kingroon 3D printer comes with its own software and testing file loaded on the SD card provided in the box itself. Being the cheapest printer, it has some mind-blowing features like resuming 3D printing after losing power and Filament runout protection.

Obviously, a cheap product means a cheap design. All the positive reviews are for the features but the design is cheap.

The wires are poorly integrated and the moving parts get close to the hot areas and increase the risk of fire. Actually the cheap design can be a safety concern but none of the casualties is reported yet.

Apart from this, the fans and motors on the Kingroon are pretty loud.

The print quality of this printer isn’t perfect but it’s good enough for the price and most importantly if you can get your settings just right.

If the settings are a bit off, your models won’t be printed out with enhanced details and you’ll find a lot of artifacts and globs including the stinginess.

Also, using anything other than the PLA will not give you the good results as you expected to have even not with the ABS filament.

The printer works perfectly fine when at low printing speed so you need to give it a lot of time for getting amazing results.

Overall, it’s still a winner when considering the price.

Connectivity

It falls in the category of the plug and plays 3D printers out there.

A few simple instructions to assemble the few parts here and there and the printer is up and working. You just have to plug in the printer and print.

It supports Vura, Simplify3D, and Repetier-host software however, we suggest you go with Simplify 3D since it is much easier to use and understand. If you are pro and need more choices and capabilities, then go with Cura.

Apart from this, you can print the files from a USB device or an SD card. The touchscreen on board allows you to control the printer.

The touchscreen has eight controls that are large, have icons that are clear enough to do what they do. So, beginners, you’re safe.

Portability

The build size of this printer is 180 x 180 x 180 mm and is quite small and very compact. Also, it’s design consists of a few pieces that need to be assembled out of the box and that’s great. This printer can be placed anywhere even in the narrow spaces when not in use since it’s compact and is also small in size.

Bottom Line

Summing up, you see that the Kingroon 3D printer has more positive points compared to the negative points.

The print quality is amazingly good along with the ability to print fast at this price range. Moreover, the printer is user-friendly for beginners and also the home users who are just wishing to get into 3D printing.

We do agree that the unit is sturdy but it doesn’t feel cheap but the design is cheap since it has exposed wires.

If you’re looking to use this printer and gain skills then this is not the one for you as it is relatively limited in its capabilities since everything is already programmed for you. This printer is for someone who is not familiar with the 3D printing World.

6. Monoprice Mini Delta

Pros
  • Value for money
  • Easy control
  • Decent Print Quality and Speed
Cons
  • Noisy printing process
  • Less user friendly

Performance

According to the company’s claims Monoprice, Mini Delta Printer is the lowest priced professional quality 3D printer in the world.

As delta printers are always known for their performance and speed, this also applies to the Monoprice Mini Delta Printer it’s fairly fast as a low-cost printer.

Monoprice Mini Delta Printer prints at a speed of 150mm per second. The 50-micron layer resolution enables reasonably high-quality prints.

Because the high-quality mode results were unreliable. We are unable to judge the quality of the prints produced by the high-quality print mode.

The printer functions smoothly in both the normal and fast mode. Although the quality of the print is seen to be better in the normal mode as the printer layers have better resolution in the normal mode.

The surfaces of the print produced are smooth in both the modes normal and fast but the fast mode has few glitches and as a result, the print produced is a blur.

The printing process is pretty noisy due to the continual whining sound from the motors and the sound due to the movement of the printing head at the end of three motor-driven arms.

Connectivity

Monoprice Mini Delta Printer is very handy when it’s about the connectivity. Once you unbox the printer it’s ready to print just by plugging it in. This is what makes it user friendly and suitable for beginners.

The printer consists of a color LED screen display, and three buttons- ‘UP’,’DOWN’, and ‘SELECT’.These buttons enable us to navigate through the various menus of the printer. Its maximum resolution is of 50macrons.

Monoprice Mini Delta Printer comes with test models, configuration files, various document links, and a preloaded SD card. The connectivity of the printer is also made easier via Wifi and USB.

Portability

Monoprice Delta Mini Printer is a compact and highly portable printer. It weighs about 4lb.

It comes with a carrying handle which makes it very easy to move it quickly as per the need. It can be carried to the workplace, school, and anywhere required. The carrying handle is unique and is only found in the monoprice mini delta printer.

Other considerations

Although the Monoprice Mini Delta Printer is the best in its price range however, there are a few drawbacks that the users have pointed out like the issues with the USB and WiFi connectivity.

The printer is a  great value for money for bargain hunters who are looking for a low-cost 3D printer as the Monoprice Mini Delta Printer has a lot to offer despite its low and budget-friendly price tag.

Bottom Line

Keeping all the drawbacks aside, the Monoprice Mini Delta Printer is highly recommended by us because it’s lightweight and portable. The quality and speed of this printer are pretty decent as compared to the other low-cost printers.

However, we wouldn’t recommend this printer to the beginners and to someone who has never used one before since the software and the process of operation is quite complicated. Moreover, the printer is fun to operate once you get familiar with the software and the process of operation.

7. Anet A8 Prusa i3

Pros
  • Affordable budget-friendly 3D printer kit
  • Improved functionality
  • Improves your knowledge about FMD 3D printing
  • Lots of 3D printable enhancement
Cons
  • Unclear assembly instructions
  • Difficult to use without basic knowledge of 3D printings
  • Lack of UI practicality

Performance

The Anet A8 Prusa i3 DIY 3D Printer was the most popular 3D printer until 2018. The building and assembly of the printer are quite challenging but considering its price, it surprisingly produces high-quality prints. It’s also modifiable. Which makes it difficult to ignore Anet A8 Prusa i3 DIY 3D Printer.

Although the assembly and installation of the printer are challenging, the printing experience is fun. The A8 Printer is very limited. The A8 successfully prints using the default settings via SD card but the quality of the print is compromised.

In Order to achieve the best results from the A8 Printer, a ton of up-gradation is required in almost all the areas.

MOSFET, EXTRUDER, AUTO LEVEL SENSOR are some of the upgrades that are required in order to get the best printing quality and results.

Making the A8 printer a safe and secure device takes a lot of efforts and a lot of work is needed to be done. However, printing and producing good quality can become a lot easier using the guidelines that are available on online platforms.

Upon testing the printer’s performance, the printed model turns out to be amazing but not quite what we were expecting but well, this printer is hackable and can be optimized even further for printing better.

In our simple test, it produced amazing results although we do find some stringiness.

The A8 Printer users have also experienced overheating issues after especially for long prints. There is a lack in the amount of cooling which leads to the overheating of the printer.

Portability

The Canon TS5120 Wireless printer weighs about 14.3 pounds and its size is compact.

Connectivity

The printer has a fine hybrid ink system with a 2.5-inch LCD screen display. There is front and Back paper rear support for you to quickly arrange the paper tray and refill it.

The A8 DIY 3D Printer comes unassembled when you unbox. Unfortunately assembling and installing is very challenging and time-consuming. The A8 printer comes with a USB stick installation guide which makes the installment easier, operating instructions, and troubleshooting guides.

It also contains 3D printing sample models, slicing software settings, photos and a video installation guide.

In terms of connectivity and PC compatibility, the options are pretty much everything. The A8 printer works with Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10, Mac, and Linux. The A8 printer also offers more UI options which are pretty good. It can also be easily connected through USB and SD cards.

It also has a LED screen which aims to enable us to navigate through the printer menus and access all the options that are available but the clunky buttons make it harder to access and navigate all the menus and options and lack practicality.

Lastly, the A8 doesn’t offer automatic bed leveling technology. The entire bed calibration has to be done manually which becomes very difficult.

The printer has a fine hybrid ink system with a 2.5-inch LCD screen display. There is front and Back paper rear support for you to quickly arrange the paper tray and refill it.

You can go for borderless printing of your documents or prints and the Hi-speed USB provides good connectivity Wireless all in one printer that’s just the right size with all the right features.

Portability

The Anet A8 Prusa i3 DIY 3D Printer doesn’t come handy when it’s about portability.

The A8 printer is very compact. The printer’s volume is around 8.7×8.7×9.4 inches. It weighs about 18.7 lb. which makes it very difficult to move it from a place to another.

Other considerations

The A8 printer certainly comes with few flaws. One of the major drawbacks is that it comes unassembled and it is supposed to be built from scratch which requires a lot of patience, knowledge and it consumes a lot of time.

On the other hand, getting the perfect print is also a pretty difficult task as it doesn’t offer an automatic bed leveling system and the bed calibration has to be done manually as it has been mentioned earlier.

Bottom Line

Although the A8 printer has certain flaws and drawbacks. The 3D printing experience is pretty aspiring. An A8 printer is a great option for the ones who aren’t willing to spend much and get the prints in good quality.

However, it’s important to remember that it requires a lot of time to upgrade and tweak the printer to get the best and well-optimized performance from the A8 printer. The printer can be a perfect starting point as it’s a budget-friendly printer.

8. Tresbro Creality Cr-100

Pros
  • One button printing
  • Easy to use the touchpad
  • Child-friendly appearance
Cons
  • No heated bed
  • No USB Connectivity

Performance

The CR-100 is a 3D printer manufactured by the Chinese company called Creality.

The printer has a cute design and is made child friendly keeping the small build volume. It indeed comes in an affordable price range but also has quite a small build compared to the other printers that focus towards children and education.

The performance of this printer is quite fascinating and this printer packs in plenty of amazing features as well. The most useful feature, especially when considering for children, features an automatic bed leveling which will, of course, save you from the trouble of messing and keeping those little fingers of the children away from getting harm. The CR-100 is quite easy to use i.e, plug-n-play printer which is good for both adults beginners and kids.

When there are children, safety is considered more important and Creality claims that its printer has a flame retardant fuselage and high-quality electrical equipment making it even safer and secure.

Although the printer doesn’t have any exposed wires, we aren’t sure of what exactly the company claimed.

However, apart from this, the printed model turns out to be pretty amazing. It’s smaller and it doesn’t mean that it’s less powerful. The printer is sturdy and all-metal construction with a heated bed which ensures high accuracy.

The best thing about this printer is that the printing materials supported are a lot more including the PLA, Soft Rubber, Wood, Copper and even ABS. The printer did a great job in printing the models.

We are pleasantly surprised by the quality of the prints it produced. The only problem we faced is while printing the model with the Wood type filament. In our tests taken twice to print the wooden object, it stopped in between the print. It’s hard to complain about the printer which is priced below $200.

Apart from the printing process, the printer has a fun appearance and it looks like a truck. If you have a kid, he must find it more exciting than a normal looking printer.

The printer is also colorful and comes in four different colors which are red, orange, blue, and yellow.

The printer design is a little on complex side, it becomes very hard to see prints from all the angles.

Connectivity

The CR-100 features touchpad and one-button printing. This printer is very simple to use as advertised.

You just need to use any of the slicers as the software to create a 3D design like we used Cura in the process, and print your first model.

The printer supports both TF card and SD card for storing and printing the model. Once you plug in the card and press the one-button, it starts printing your model. However, there is no print recovery but it does have a print pause option.

Portability

The printer is tiny in size and Creality markets this printer’s tiny size as a feature but when it comes to allowing you child to create whatever they want then it will definitely be limited by the very small build size.

The printer total size is 241 x 183 x 255 mm and a build volume is 100 x 100 x 80 mm. This makes the printer extremely portable and compact and if you don’t have a lot of extra room in your home then it is a feature. Moreover, the printer just weighs around 2.8kg.

To be honest, limiting the size of the printer means limiting the build space too, which obviously means smaller prints and less waiting for prints.

Other Considerations:

Upon testing this printer, we do find uncertainties in the product.

There is no built-in camera to monitor the model and also due to its design we aren’t able to check out the model while it’s printing from all angles clearly.

The best thing is that this printer comes with a removable magnetic bed which snaps on and off the build plate and just a gentle bend it released the prints. However, we do miss the heated bed.

The printer comes assembled and the extruder type we noted is single with a smaller nozzle size of 0.4mm.

Bottom Line

Coming to the conclusion, we really didn’t like the size of the printer but that’s fair when the price is noted.

It is really a great printer for your kid to print out little toys and few masterpieces of their favorite cartoon characters. The print model will turn out to be smaller. The printer also doesn’t offer more customizability and you are stuck with printing trinkets.

However, if you’re not very likely to invest a lot in the 3D printer and is fine with printing small trinkets and models simultaneously have fun with your kids learning and teaching them about design then this printer is a great choice.

This popular, high-end budget printer by FlashForge is an excellent choice if you are looking for good quality prints produced in a hassle-free, plug-and-play kind of way and which lets you print almost anything from a small hippo to more complex figurines and statues.

It has a sturdy red plastic alloy frame and is semi-enclosed with it, covering the backside of the printer and leaving all other sides bare, which is acceptable because it comes with a non-heat print bed.

The covered, backside is where an integrated spool holder is located that is fixed in size and optimized by FlashForge filaments.

It has an easy-to-use intuitive touch screen with easily discernible icons and is easy to set up, has a non-heated printing bed and a removable build plate that makes it easier for the user to move the finished 3D models out of the printer.

With a manual bed leveling system, assisted by the touch screen (3.5” full color) controls and the user manual included on a USB stick that comes with it, you can learn just what you need to do to level the printing bed.

As the printer is semi-enclosed, you will need to explain the consequences of putting their fingers in the print chamber to your kids.

If you deem this printer unsafe, you can always go for FlashForge Inventor II which is a fully enclosed version of this printer.

Fortunately, it won’t take a lot of adjustments to start printing on it as the print method is fairly easy.

It uses the FlashPrint software with features such as fully automatic slicing, support generator, manual temperature, and speed settings and material usage estimates.

It also has a ‘2D to 3D’ gimmick that allows you to turn 2D images into 3D model approximations, which are not really perfect but still a fun exercise.

USB and Wi-Fi features ensure connectivity, the former medium being more reliable according to some users. It also allows for smartphone integration to create and control.

The machine is really quiet when operating, has a close-to-zero failure rate and excellent customer service.

Finder produces good quality, well-detailed 3D models that look like they have been teleported into it via some futuristic science and also has an overall less intimidating everyday home appliance kind of a look for non-tech savvy folks.

Perfect for older kids and teenagers, Sindoh 3DWOX DP200 is a high-end-budget printer that looks more like some sort of a futuristic home appliance than a lab machine.

It has a fully-assembled and enclosed body with a see-through front door much like with microwave ovens.

A sturdy plastic panel frame, larger filaments, and a very generous build volume in a uniform cube shape make it so much more professional and desirable.

It is easy to set up, the first three steps being the plug-in, filament feed, and bed calibration.

The color screen walks you through the calibration process and the filament is cartridge-contained that you can add into the machine like a conventional printer, thus simplifying the otherwise manual process of loading filaments.

After unboxing, the printer only takes about 20 minutes to be properly set up and ready to print. It works with the Sindoh 3DWOX desktop slicing software which has an easy mode and an advanced mode, which gives you the desired level of control over the file preparation process.

You can also use Cura software with it. It also has a built-in webcam that allows you to monitor the building process remotely allowing you to go about your daily activities freely without feeling the need to check in on it closely time and again.

It is a very quiet 3D printer with a flexible/bendable and removable print plate. It uses proprietary filaments which have limited colors and material but are of high quality and produce the most reliable models.

If you can afford a budget for it, there is nothing that can really go wrong with buying this nearly professional-grade, yet completely hassle-free machine for your engineering-enthusiast young ones.

6. Da Vinci Mini

This is one of the most affordable 3D printers available in the market. It is fully assembled but semi-enclosed leaving the front and back sides of the printer bare.

It is compact and lightweight and thus easier to move around the house and places.

It comes in slick black and red designs and has wireless capabilities for ease of connectivity and operation.

With a better made single extruder setup and a non-heat printing bed, it has a simple, safe and effective design for kids to use.

7. Monoprice Select Mini

This budget-friendly printer is best for teens older than 14 and tech-savvy parents. It doesn’t come with any filaments and so can work with multiple types of filament -including PLA, ABS, PET, TPU, Copolyester, jelly and foam, etc. – which you will have to purchase separately.

It has a sturdy sheet steel body with visible bolts that give it an oh-so-industrial look, but with important moving parts safely secured. It gives the feel of lab equipment that is operated by white-coated lab technicians, and that the science-enthusiast teenagers will absolutely love.

It has a fancy, clear, color screen with an impressive interface and a tactile click wheel next to it all standing on a comely brushed steel bed.

Although it comes with a pre-calibrated bed, you will have to do a little tweaking before it is properly leveled. You can use third-party software like Cura, Simplify3D, Repetier, and Replicator-G which are recommended and very easy to use by computer-literate people.

These open a whole new world of CAD model creation, innovation, and advanced settings.

The machine is fairly loud and the speed slow, but that is because it gives high resolution and good quality prints and with open software options you can make trade-offs between speed and quality as much as you want, much like in the industrial printers.

The quality in the 3D printing is mostly due to the type of software used, so you can tentatively play around and learn to build very high-quality parts.

Although it can support all types of filaments it doesn’t work well with ABS due to its limited temperature margin, but it is still worth the bargain due to excellent quality and innovative freedom.

It is the perfect first 3D printer for older kids and teens with engineering interests. Although it has a few quirks nothing of concern that might in any way make you feel regretful after buying it. Problem-solving is at the core of engineering and this printer provides you the power and liberty to experience just that.

Things to consider before buying:

Before making a purchase of a 3D printer, you need to understand that not all 3D printers are equal; there are the good, the not so good, and the downright useless machines when it comes to 3D printing technology.

The saying “you get what you pay for” properly fits this area of consumer buying.

There are a variety of technologies, printing materials and prices for 3D printers for kids available in the market that you can choose from. Fortunately, looking for a perfect 3D printer for kids is much easier compared to finding a perfect 3D printer for professionals.

Following are a simple few things you need to keep in mind while going for this ‘exciting’ purchase:

Filament type:

The most common filament types used in 3D printers are ABS and PLA and it is up to you to decide which filament-type based printer you want your kids to have. Let us walk you through the main features of both the major types of filament:

PLA: It is a thermoplastic derived from cornstarch. It cools down very quickly so the objects don’t deform and are the best choice for beginners. It’s not very good for parts with interlocking pieces.

ABS: It is a petroleum-based plastic and is more flexible and stronger than PLA, which is why it is best for parts with interlocking components (like Lego). But it takes a longer time to cool down which could result in deformities or warping issues.

It also emits unpleasant fumes which some people find very overwhelming; so you will have to work in a ventilated area when working with this type of filament.

Tip: If your kid is of a younger age group or is an absolute beginner and has little to no experience of handling 3D printers, PLA-based printers or open resource printers with PLA-type filament are the right choices for you.

ABS-based printers or open resource printers with ABS-type filament require more advanced handling and are good for teenagers who have little to enough 3D printing experience.

Design:

Since you are purchasing the 3D printer for your tweens and teens, you need to keep their design and color preferences in mind while deciding for the best printer. For younger children, vibrant colors with toy-like impression will be more attractive a choice, but if you are buying for an older kid or for kids approaching their teen-age, it’s highly likely that they are going to get put off by the childish colors and will appreciate an industrial/professional looking printer.

Print quality:

Although the entry-level 3D printers do not offer very excellent quality prints, you need to be certain that you are satisfied with the end product.

Safety

If your kids are extremely curious by nature then you have to put extra thought into finding the safest 3D printer out there.

Enclosed printers are the best choice as they prevent the children from making contact with the heated parts of the printer, thus avoiding serious injury and burns.

Ease of use:

Always bear in mind that this printer is for your kids and not for you. So you have to put extra thought into assessing your kids’ printing level and what they might find easier and what they might not. If your kid is an absolute newbie to this technology, our advice is to go for the printer that has the most convenient features.
